Hi,
Asking here as all I use my XBOX for is XBMC4XBOX and due to the wealth of knowledge about both here.
I am at present trying to install 3.3.3 on my backup XBOX as my main one just refused to power up. Hoping this might be an easy fix like an internal fuse or something but not sure where to start looking. It has been working fine for the last two years or so and just will not power up at all. Not heavily used TBH.
I'd appreciate any tips on where to start looking.?
TIA

I think there is a fuse on the PSU, but i am not sure at all. It should be possible to check the powersupply though.
Never argue with an idiot! First he brings you down to his level, then he beats you with experience.

Re: XBOX will not power up
be careful when checking the Power Supply Unit, some are known to hold high voltages in the capacitors even when unplugged.
In my experience with the many xbox's I've worked on, the PSUs were crap and typically needed a full replacement when not powering up. If the Xbox isnt powering up at all then its most likely the PSU needing replacement
If you're going to order a replacement via ebay then just make sure its the 1 out of the 2 available that you need. The earlier generation (foxlink) had 1 single row of pins, and the newer types had 2 rows of pins.
hoping for the best for you fellow xboxer

Re: XBOX will not power up
Thank you both for your replies.
Having got the box apart I have a board marked Tuscany and marked with a red dot for 230V T3 15AL and is also marked REV: 1.0. I cannot see any normal fuse on the board.
I can't find any boards on ebay UK and I suspect those on ebay.com will be for 110V.
Probably easiest just to keep for spares and get another XBOX for when my backup fails.?

Close, but not quite.moroccomann76 wrote:If you're going to order a replacement via ebay then just make sure its the 1 out of the 2 available that you need. The earlier generation (foxlink) had 1 single row of pins, and the newer types had 2 rows of pins.
There are three different PSU patterns corresponding to XBOX versions v1.0-v1.1, v1.2-v1.5 and V1.6. See here:
http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Mods/xbox_po ... ersion.htm
...and there several different OEM manufacturers for each of those patterns.

Re: XBOX will not power up
All this XBOX stuff is new to me, I'm afraid. OK around PCs and laptops.
From the link posted by spicemuseum I have a 1.6 board.? It has the ATX connector with 4 missing connectors.
Here is a pic of what I have. The atx plug has a part number of X01736-006.

Looks suspiciously like a Tuscany to me.
Coincidentally, look here: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... =12&t=2529
BTW, you're posting in the XBMC4XBOX support area, probably better to post in the off-topic -> Misc XBOX area.
