scrapers makes the videos impossible to start. (solved)

Hello.
Iv been running an old r30824 from 2011 for a while since iv had issues with video playback on the newer.
But today i wanted to try and got the 3.5 beta 2. Gave me some freezes and grey screens when trying to play videos so i changed to stable 3.3.3.
In this version the videosplayed good. But as soon as i chooce a content for the tv shows, i cannot play the videos. When i try to play them i might either get background sound and then a hard freeze or it just cuts the video all together. If i go in and remove the content and set to none and then unnasign content, the filed wil play perfect again.
So please, does anyone have an idea?

you must post a debug log without nobosy can help

Sorry about that, was late at night.

Iv made 5 logs so you can see where the faults may be:

This log is the main crash with the files scraped as a tv show. First I try to play a video and nothing hapends. Then I try again and I get a small second of sound, black screen and freeze:

This is the exact same video files, but with no scaper so played as files. They wil normaly work, but sometimes I wil also here have issues with sound and black screen etc:

Iv been running the old build for a time and never had problems, but wanted to try a newer build. Also Im changing my server machine from xp to win7 and my old version seems to have issues connecting by smb to win7.
I also wanted to know if theer are vast imporvements from my old or the 3.3.3 to the 3.5 Beta 2, keeping in mind im a low level user that maily watches moves, series and dont use so many scripts.

you are running in 1080i - switch to 720p and you will have more ram. you are running out of memory. Your old build only "just" plays it - with hardly any free ram left. I wouldn't recommend running 1080i unless you have a 128mb machine.

Good eye BuzZ.
I actualy started having the errors on 720, and then used auto which gave me 1080I.

Here is a bug from 720 running the same file. I get eitehr only sound and black screen, or just black screen:

you still have video playback to use 1080i. disable 1080i completely in the system settings.

Note 1080i is disabled by default here - there is a reason for that

BuZz that actualy seems like its done it for now, but can you explain why?

The reason I ask is because these settings and also 1080I has been enabled since I did the HD mod around 2010 and I never had problems. I was thinking the new releases was faster and less memory hoggers, but are they using more memory since I have problems with newer with identical settings to the old builds?

Il update now to 3.5 -2 to get all the newest quirks.

xbmc4xbox uses more ram than it used to due to larger dvdplayer libs, new features, more complicated and higher resolution skins etc. performance is better, but it doesn't use less ram. But the xbmc4xbox was also close to the limit in 1080i anyway. even on your older version, you had only 1 mb free when playing back a video, so there was a risk of a crash. if you want to run in 1080i, you still can, but you will want to disable all services, use a very minimalist or low res skin. If you tv takes 720p signal, then there is little point apart from perhaps to view pictures in 1080i.

Btw have you experienced any problems with the movie scraper? I can add tv shows and it wil search my server just fine. But when I select movies and search for content it just works for 3 seconds and are done. Iv got a lot of movies in the folder, but no go. The home screen movies does not show and no movies get indexed. Also tried the same on local media with same problem:

How deep wil the scrapers go?
I ask since I have an old colelction of the complete disney collection for the kids. Its place in local HDD on the xbox under movies/disney and pixar movies/disney classics and under there in individual folders. I was thinking I could just choose the movies folder and it wil get all the movies with Scan Recursively. I also tried adding the folders with all the disney and pixar avi, but no go. Im guessing the scraper dont like them

should be ok if you have the settings correct (recursive/use folder names). if not - another debug log needed.

Hi Buzz.
I added both (recursive/use folder names) and still it just wil not find those avi. They are located at the following locations:
F/videos/Disney & Pixar & Animation Movies/Disney Classic/
F/videos/Disney & Pixar & Animation Movies/Pixar/

Movies in the /Disney & Pixar & Animation Movies folder is ok, but not the 2 folders after that. The AVI files are not in individual folders, but a lot of avi in each of the 2.

If you want a debug I can do that, but unsure of what action you want to have a debug of.

can you post a screenshot of the folders structure of your tv shows; one thing i've noticed for tv shows, in order for them to be scanned, i have to be in the tv shows library and select "update library" from the context menu. Also, check that the movies are named properly.

Tv shows are nok OK! Just those pesy Avi movies I cnat get to work. Erm how can I make a screenshot in xbmc?
As for the name, that might be it. They have numbered names like "Disney Classic - 01 -Snow White.avi"

did you try selecting "Update Library" from the context menu whilst in the tvshows library? also, going into the video settings and cleaning your library wouldn't hurt....

you can take a screenshot from your pc where the files reside... if your files are in the xbox's F drive, you can use FileZilla (or whatever FTP program you use) and navigate to the folders, then take a screenshot and post it.

i suggest removing the "Disney Classic - ## - " to at least 3 movies, then rescan and see what happens.

I really hate to say it, buts your right... It pains me but altering the names do work, but since its a labeled collection by numbers its both a pain altering and also "loosing" the numeration. But oh wel. Thank"

glad you got it working... i often add the year of the movie for cataloging purposes: i.e., "my movie (2020).avi"

Why don't you use program like Media Companion to create local nfo and artwork for your Disney Classic - ## - movies.

I know, some don't like local nfo etc, but in this case, you can keep your naming. You may have to manually change the movie, if it doesn't automatically get the right one on scraping.

I'm a developer for Media Companion, and started using this when Xbox was the choice for XBMC, so I didn't have to scrape from the internet each XBox I set up in the house. Now I help support MC, and am making sure it still supports Xbox XBMC. Currently I have XBMC on two Xbox's, one Raspberry Pi, and one PC (Linux XBMC).
