How to stop XBox Auto shutdown

Hi there, I bought a used original XBox with XBMC installed on it recently, and its great. My entertainment system is in a closet, so I use a Logitech RF controller with it, and it works well.

The only problem is that for some reason, even though the XBMC Settings for the system have automatic shutdowns disabled, after about 2 hours of non-use, the XBox is powering off. This doesn't appear to be a heat related thing but it seems to be doing this by design. Since the unit is located away from the entertainment system, its becoming a royal pain to have to go and turn it on all the time.

Has anyone solved this issue before? I thought that the XBMC system settings would take care of this, but something else seems to be wanting to shut this box down after 2 hours of non-use.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Fire up the MS Dash, there's an auto-shutdown setting in there

Check for Q:\scripts\autoexec.py - maybe it's got some code to trigger a shutdown through timers.

OK, forgive my noob-iness here, but how do I get to the MS Dash? My console just boots immediately into XBMC...

Chipped / flashed Xbox:

- XBMC File Explorer - C - xboxdash.xbe

Softmod Xbox - no shadow C:

- XBMC File Explorer - C - xb0xdash.xbe, or xb1xdash.xbe, or msdash.xbe

Softmod Xbox - with shadow C:

- Bypass shadow C, then XBMC File Explorer - C - xb0xdash.xbe, or xb1xdash.xbe, or msdash.xbe

Thanks. That looks like it did the trick. So far, no shutdown (I used the softmod, no shadow option with xb1xdash.xbe). I'll keep an eye on it, but fingers crossed - no more auto shutdowns.

I use a really good app called hexen to update every softmod I do and after that the ms dash fires up if you power on the xbox with the eject button
