i have tried using hexen to reinstall but keeps coming back with above error.
it still plays original games as it should

You're not supposed to be installing XBMC or switching to XBMC as your dash, you are reinstalling the softmod to get back to a clean and known state.....

or do you mean to delete game saves and start from there
i have started with inserting splintercell and running linux,basic install running now

No! I mean insert the HeXEn disc, reboot the machine, and reinstall the softmod that way, as I said 4 posts ago.....

Run HeXEn, select one of the Krayzie softmod installation options. Pick the one that matches your region. If you have one of the exploitable games pick that, otherwise pick the Splinter Cell version - in your case pick Splinter Cell, as you said earlier you had the game. Run it, read and follow the instructions. When you finish your softmod will be working properly and booting to UnleashX as your dash.

Once you have the emulator extracted to a single folder on your PC then post back and we'll talk you through putting it on your Xbox.
