Problem getting UPnP to work

Post by ola »

I'm using xbmc4xbox 3.2. I'm trying to connect from it to a Serviio UPnP server (http://www.serviio.org/) on a Mac. When I browse for my UPnP server on my Xbox nothing shows. XBMC it doesn't return anything.

I can see my UPnP server in my router so I think I want to start looking for problems on the Xbox. Ideas?

not sure sorry, but I use it with mediatomb. perhaps some compatibility issue - you could try another upnp server to see if it's just something like that ?

I'm not getting it to work. When I click browse UPnP shares it takes like 0 seconds then it displays the ".." directory only. Is there anything else I must do do get it to actually search and browse the network?

Initially I tried to set up SMB shares but SMB seems to be broken on OSX these day. I think. When I tried to browse my SMB shares XBMC just returned an error. If anyone have any info on setting that up I would be even more fine with that :)

Try FTP sources, as an alternative to SMB shares.

How good does FTP sources work? It seems to be pretty straight forward to set up a FTP server on OSX so it might be an alternative.

From what I understand the problem with SMB is that Apple only built support for SMB protocol v2 and XBMC only uses V1. Is that so? Any idea if XBMC ever will implement V2?

OLALA!

I'll try both FTP sources and Webdav (with http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mediamas ... 9105?mt=12)

Other ideas are also welcome :)

Thanks a lot!

I got it to work with webdav so I'll start of with that! I've also researched the possibility to compile samba from scratch... who nows maybe that's the way to go..

Webdav didn't work that good with that server. It was slow to browse and hung sometimes. Post back when I have another idea :)
