Hi there everyone,
I have family that loves to come by to play my soft modded XBox, this spring I picked up three for christmas presents, modded them up, painted to their styles, but I've already lost 5 recently purchased IDE drives. So a couple weeks ago I put in Xecuter 2.6CE chips to the 1.6 or 1.6B systems only, but I've had nothing but frags after I flash since putting the cips in, then I need to pull out the old system use the programmer to reset and go again. (Before I'm asked "all lights are on, chip is working)I'm all setup with BiosFlah in the first 2 slots and M8_plus_16 in the other two (took a week of reading forums to get that far) I have Flashing on and I'm in slot 2 when the programming is done, when I reboot in slot two I get the normal boot with an error code 6 on all systems, and when I reboot in slot one I burn a bios put it on and then FRAG! I read that x3_3294 was the place to start, but that fragged both the slots. I'm hoping after all these years someone must have the answer because I'm about to stomp all boxes into power if this keeps up, plus have some pissed off kids gunning for y head. lol
I appreciate those who even took the time to read my post. Thank-you from an old school gamer.
All I need now it to know which bios won't frag my boxes.

i think you need to update to a newer softmod method with a shadow c it is almost impossible to accidentally lock a drive.
id allways recomend you un lock it and relock the hdd with configmajic so you allways have a back door in with a masterpassword.
you have converted the evoxm8 v16 to a 1mb file before you flash it to the bank with the x2 bios manager ?
an x3 bios only works on an x3 modchip you should use an x2 bios such as 5035

Re: All I need now it to know which bios won't frag my boxes
Thanks for the quick response, the IDE drives that I picked up were all refurbished and the better ones are just so much cash, I wanted to switch to SATA and not have the locking/unlocking headaches. Plus I know one of the kids would screw things up eventually, they already did to mine once. Thanks for the link, I read it before I even installed the first chip looking for instructions, but haven't since. I read that a 512kb bios was required for the install after the M8plus bios install and the x2's are only 256k... *sigh* Thought this last week had reminded me that I really shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet... I'll give the 5035 a crack and see how she purrs. I'll post the result and then write an instruction manual with pictures from beginning to end in the new year for future people who need to figure out how to put everything together, without the endless reading in ancient forums like I had to go through. Though I'm sure it will get taken away by the creators as soon as I post it anywhere. Thanks Professor you certainly schooled this boy.

As proffessor_jonny says, you can't use an X3 bios with an X2 chip.
The X2_5035 bios is a good shout, I personally like changing the settings via the .ini file on the hd although some people don't like the longer boot times associated with reading the file from hd
If you wanted to use a 256kb bios such as X2_4981 I think you can use them but you need to pad out the file size - there are some utility programs on xbox-scene that let you do that but as I've not done this I can't recomend one sorry.

Alright the 5035. Did not frag, except when I beet I get "Xecuter2 Config Live Loading....." And that's it, frazen. When I switch to channel 2 I get an error code 16 and since I have only one running softmod system and 0 ATA lockable drives that will be accepted at the boot long enough to reset the clock. Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: All I need now it to know which bios won't frag my boxes
when you say the xbox freezes up with the x2_5035 bios do you get an error code or anything?
It could be that the bios isnt looking in the correct path for a dash, so using a recovery disc such as Hexen or Slayers, ftp to the xbox and modify the .ini file to make sure it's looking for E:/apps/xbmc/default.xbe or whatever dash you're trying to load up.
with the other error that you're getting I'm not too sure about that; do you have the stock msdash still on the c drive? It might be worth using a recovery disc to rebuild your C drive but hopefully someone more experienced can offer advice on that

Re: All I need now it to know which bios won't frag my boxes
I figured it out finally, I wasn't using Flashbios v303.1, its the only Flashbios that works on a 1.6B motherboard. I found the answer under a tips and tricks forum elsewhere... If anyone is still out there 2 of the 3 systems chipped now have an error 16 upon boot-up and the third lost all sound and video (pretty sure its the adapter connector on the motherboard though, I'll solder a replacement later to check.) Is there an bios out there which would come per-configured with a "Clock Check Bypass"? I can't bypass the lock because removing the DVD entirely just gives me an error 6 instead of 12, though when the DVD is back on its back to a 16. I'm about to kick these things in for all the trouble they have given me. I'll keep looking for another answer in the meantime. Thanks to everyone for the hip.

Re: All I need now it to know which bios won't frag my boxes
That bios I suggested should bypass the clock fault you possibly have stuffed up dashboards some how?
I would pop in Slayers AID or Hexen and do a clean install you might have some softmod stuff on their still messing with things.
all modern bioses bypass the clock check and the reason it would hang at the loading x2 screen is it possibly cant find a boot path or is crashing with softmod remains on the hdd.
