Noob Question - Connecting XBMC PC to XBMC Xbox

Post by mx5xm »

He're the run-down. I've got XBMC on my Windows PC and it runs great, I've got separate playlists for my stuff and stuff for my kiddos.

My wife would like a similar setup in another room. I'm up for doing this, but I'd like to be able to do it with an Xbox stand-alone.

My question is this, I know I would be able to stream from one to another, but would all this be possible with the same eye candy (movie posters), plot scraping, etc that I am accustomed to on my PC?

I used XBMC4Xbox in the past but never cared about eye candy because it was just me using it. Now with the kiddo using it I would like to have all the eye candy so he can point to what he wants.

Thanks -Mike

Xbmc4xbox can not connect to a remote media database on a pc as it is a different format, unless something has changed recently.

I use a program called media companion and it scrapes thumbs and fan art and actor details etc... to the local directory and stores it along side the movies, I did this from my pc as a one time exercise.

then i fire up xbmc on my pc or xbox tell it what is in the scan path and it gets the info from there instead of off the net.

it stores fanart tbn and nfo files named the same as the movies with different extentions.
