upgrading harddrive on xbox

Post by legend_018 »

Hi. So I see a lot of comments here and there in forums about upgrading the harddrive on an original xbox.
I even have the link to the xbox hard drive compatibility chart. I hear a lot of people talking about 500g drives, yet I don't see it on the list.
I'm also wondering....where people are getting these and what they might be paying for them. This is the list I got.

Any feedback would be great.

There are plenty on that list. You need a model number to look it up. Most of us have acquired these drives over time. Look on ebay for these, or a computer repair store.

For example on the compatability list: http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list&v_b ... _postedby=

And a simple Google search for the drive: https://www.google.com/search?q=western ... :l,p_ord:p

hmm I did't see anything higher then 120gigs on that list. But, I should go by the list exactly when buying larger harddrives for the xbox? Or any IDE should be fine? Thanks for the link and pointing that out. I'll go back and look more carefully.

Find a drive you like, then type the model number of that drive into that list and search. It will tell you if the drive works or not.

The model number that I entered was the first result in the google search for 500GB IDE HDD.
