720 hd movies

Post by petewxm »

Hi I've got a few 720 hd films and it seems more and more on movie 25 are in 720, my Xbox is struggling playing them, with 100% CPU, is there a skin or settings I can mess with to few up a bit on the CPU.

Thanks

Pete

you should include a debug log when asking for help

XBOX can only play 720p video encoded specifically for it. Common 720p files using h264 codec are not going to be playable. If you want to play back HD video, then I suggest you go and get a modern HTPC :)

Ok sorry for not including a log, just I know 720 films are CPU intensive, so I don't think there is a actual problem, I was just wondering if there are any really light skins which may help, or any settings I could disable.

Thanks

Skins don't really affect performance during full-screen playback, BUT using a heavy skin may cause the box to freeze because of lack of freememory.
Confluence isn't too bad, but Project Gotham III is better.

Pete there are a lot of threads dealing with these issues scattered about. Run a search and report back what works for you.

Buzz himself has suggestions already posted here.
