Thanks to the post from Xphazer, content from [removed] streams brilliantly on my xbox with 5mb ram cache. I've noticed however that when using iPlayer, the content does not cache (checked by pressing 'title' on the dvd remote and looking at video details while something is playing - cache value stays at 0)
Should iPlayer be able to cache video if using the advancedsettings xml file? Attached are some debug logs if it helps:
caching with [removed]
not caching with iPlayer
Cheers
buffering possible in iPlayer?

Re: buffering possible in iPlayer?
it cant. rtmp implemention limitation. dvdplayer audio/video queue gets used, but you shouldn't need an additional cache if your internet is quick enough or lower bitrate of streams ? I stream from both [removed] and iplayer without issue so long as the remote server is quick enough. (not a problem on iplayer).
Re: buffering possible in iPlayer?
Cheers for the reply, so increasing the DVD player cache under the settings tab in the GUI should help? Incidentally would that help with buffering for network samba shares?
Youre right that iPlayer generally streams fast but this Xbox is for someone with a low broadband speed (2mbps I think) and using power line adapters, so any buffering solutions would be ideal.

increasing dvdplayer cache may help. but not significantly I think. the best fix is sort out networking if there is a bottleneck, stream lower quality stuff, or so.

Re: buffering possible in iPlayer?
i have the same with ustvnow, 0MB cache, im guessing its the same thing here, my connection is slow (adsl1, rural) and runs poorly sometimes, all i could manage was to set the stream limit to 400kb in settings, i dont know about iplayer settings, might be the same.
it would be great to have a buffering cache so the audio and video doesnt desync, catchup, etc.

Re: buffering possible in iPlayer?
If your connection is bad your best bet is to use a tool to download the video beforehand

Re: buffering possible in iPlayer?
we normally do with most tv series etc, but the things she watches arent uploaded anywhere apart from the network sites and geo locked, then they are time limited, we used to be able to trick the web browser by using modify headers addon but it doesnt work for too long and has been impossible to find the right ip to spoof (or firefox/mozilla killed it) so it hasnt worked for years. ustvnow has been awesome and far better than nothing, so its just one of those things, if it works well then so be it, we would otherwise be without so there is really no room to complain.
