Thread merged. Please search before starting new threads.
No need for multiple XLink Kai thread.
And just for the record, you guys been the 10th if not 12th to try to get people to use XLink Kai. It wont work.
Xbox games feel too dated to me, not something I feel like playing a lot. I personally can spend more time playing NES or SNES.
People rarely play these old games, they play them 1 night than forget them for months.

Well, I guess if there 10 to 12 people then it's more than I thought, and should be enough to organise a game or two for those that want it.

Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
personally i find XBConnect quite good to use. tested on both my main xbox's 3.3.2 and 3.3.3 a couple of days ago and it works perfectly. unfortunately although loads of games were supported it was basically just halo being used

120gb hdd, vinyl magma skin, front lights, side strip lights, clear jewel mod with lights, ir dongle mod, hdd indicator. X3 with LCD many mods inc custom x3 jewel.
Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
I might give the PC client a go providing its easy enough to get working on a Linux pc.
Does no one use an old build of xbmc when doing this? I wanted to use the kai client on my ddwrt router as it looked quite neat to avoid needing a PC switched on. Unfortunately on their wiki it referenced a build of xbmc with the xlink kai settings built in. If anyone can pm me details of where to get an older build that'd be great.
Cheers

@dan.h
I think the XBMC build from Slayer 2.7 boot CD has an XBMC version with Xlink Kai built-in
I'm not sure a 100% because I can't find the CD to test

Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
Thanks for the link cifa, that'll teach me to post for help without bothering to search the web properly! (hopefully your link can help others though).
I managed to get Xlink working with a windows version of the kai engine running on my PC. I tried using DD-WRT but no luck - I think support has been pulled for that, does anyone on here know if that's the case? I also the question on the DD-WRT forums but no response.
I'm looking at getting a raspberry pi so if DD-WRT can't do this I was looking to see if this KAI engine can run in the background with XBMC.
Like some have said there probably isnt much demand for playing old xbox games online but having never played Halo etc. online I think there's quite a novel factor to it.

Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
Nothing is really required on the Xbox side. All that is required is the Xlink Kai engine running on a PC, laptop or RPi.
AFAIK the Xlink Kai engine source code is not available anymore (newer versions) nor there is any official API available. (Not always been the case)
The client built-in in older XBMC4Xbox builds as well as the DD-WRT client are severely out of date. (That's why it was removed from XBMC4Xbox)
So the very first step if anyone is interested in getting a Xlink Kai client script for XBMC4Xbox would probably be to ask the Xlink Kai guys what's up with this.
Why there is no official HTML/UDP API ?
Old engine source code links or links to stuff that say "API available yadda yadda yadda" are floating on the web but that's not true for the latest version (7.4.26).
As long as there is no API available chances of getting a working client script are a lot lower.
Its also very important to understand that the way the Xbox is design no mater what's done, a PC, laptop or RPi will always be required. No mater what.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any of the other supported console can host their own Xlink Kai engine.
The link posted by dan.h is the way to go IMO. Headless machine using the WebUI. (XLink Kai 7.4.26 RC9 Headless & Raspberry Pi)
Use a tablet, phone or laptop to access the server.

Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
This sounds like fun I'll give it a try when I'm done my Xbox and mabey we could play, are there a lot of people on?
project media center "part one" (working progress): 6tb trusty 1.4ghz + 128mb v1.4 Xbox water cooled pc case with xenium ice, LCD, HDMI out and optical out.
Re: Any one playing on Xlink Kai or XBConnect?
Only on halo 2 last i played on kai. It works on the 360 too (but mine has no ping limit).
I'd love to see full lobbies. Sadly even before LiNK came online for the 360 Freestyle dash, nobody plays anything but the newest call of duty title.
In our case it's halo 2, so i am happy we at least have that.
