converting hd to sd

can i convert hd to sd and still have a small file size?

Standard definition is typically smaller than HD. Less resolution, less data to keep track of. This of course is dependent on how you convert it. Can you be more specific? What program are you using? What format are you converting to and from?

i was thinking of using freemake. and i want to take 720p mp4 690mb videos , and turn them into sd and keep the file size the same.

Welll, you can do everything you want but keeping the same file size than HD is just useless and could even make your streaming slower...

well i took a 720p video and turned it into 480p. it still looks good, its about 1gb.

What are you trying to accomplish by converting 720p to SD? Is it a matter of the xbox being underpowered for proper playback?

If that is the case, have a look around the forum. There is a command line app to code you files to remain in 720p while having success with video playback on the xbox. I believe a key word to search for is ffmpeg. It is mentioned in the following post
