Now xbox boots in ms dash, what do I do?
If I load the exploit from splintercell it restarts the game but the xbox led is orange and I can press the buttons on the controller to bring me back to unleashx, how do I fix this, to reinstall unleashx do I have to remove it first or just select install softmod

I use HeXEn its very easy to use and will do everything for you, there is a video tutorial on how to do it in the tutorial section

OK I used sid5 if I uninstall will my xbox still be able to be softmodded through game save exploit again?

When I try running the save game exploit files on splinter cell the game resets but the xbox is then in softmodded mode and I can use the reset buttons to bring me back to the unleashx dashboard and uninstall the softmod from there

Run the save exploit and just click install softmod, before that though make sure you backed up your eeprom, there should be an option for that, you don't need to uninstall as it will overwrite the softmod files which is what you need.

I think I would just reinstall, if I remember correctly I did this on a softmod with Sid, and all was good. I didnt unistall first. and my F: was left intact

I already backed up my eeprom and ms dash when I first softmodded it, so do I have to do this again?

No, unless the softmod process requires it. The original backups are all you need to build a new disc from scratch.
