So for the last 3-4 months on and off i have been building a shed for storage and workshop, just finished off the work bench's and a shelf unit. Just need to run power and network cable and then start tidying up outside , i had a spare empty xbox case sitting around so now its a decoration and possibly a light. Shed is 5m x 3m so not big enough for a car but enough room for my bike when it comes to servicing.
Got a lot of stuff to sort and a lot of car parts that will be going on Gbay or Gumtree. The light blue bench is my clean area and the other for dirty car/bike stuff.

Ow so much potential, until the wife needs storage space.
. Gotta get power out there BKO. That way you can make noise all night long and run power tools. I'll give you a tip on a tool to buy for the mechanical work......

Loving my one. I can do NASCAR style wheel changes in no time. Grab the new 4 Amp battery to go with it though, the 1.5 Amp ones are useless. A good set of 1/2" drive sockets and you'll be tearing down motors solely for the fun of it. Pity the Xbox case wasn't a crystal because that would make a fine unique light fixture.

Thats quite cheap xman I buy drills from bunnings throw them away keep the batterys and split them to recell better quality packs for other drills as it is cheaper to buy them than buy the cells individually.
I recell drills for the local engineering supplies it is a good side earner for me pays for xbox bits
.
I have seen every drill you can imagine come in except for panasonic tools the batterys never seem to fail I have had mine for 9 years and i use it every day with auger bits and im still on the original 2 batterys and it goes like the day i brought it.
Some of the new stuff has a micro controller in the battery and they are unable to be repaired as if it loses power or sees a problem with a battery, it marks it as dead for the charger and you cant fix them even if you replace the cells
. and they are starting to cut into my spending money.
all the new li-ion stuff batterys seem to only last 2 years and they are stuffed bring back the old nicad i say

The new Lithium Iron batteries have no where near the endurance of the old NiCads I've found. As soon as there about 1/2 charge the electronics kicks in and stops you drawing any more out of them. Every tool I buy from Bunnings I print out the receipt because I know the the ink they use on the receipt will fail just like the tool I bought off them and while there stupid enough to give a 3 year warranty, I'll replace the tool several times over and won't hold back on destroying it.professor_jonny wrote:Thats quite cheap xman I buy drills from bunnings throw them away keep the batterys and split them to recell better quality packs for other drills as it is cheaper to buy them than buy the cells individually.
Panasonic tools. Ever noticed how electrical wholesalers only stock Panasonic cordless tools and ever other trade wholesalers sell everything?. Funny how the electricians who know electrics only buy Panasonic tools isn't it. Very expensive to buy but the batteries are by far the best. I have a DeWalt 12volt steel gearbox cordless that has built my 6 wheel drive chassis, the farm house with all it's 13mm bolt holes and tech screws and untold work around here and the only thing in 3 years of very hard use that has failed is the two batteries it came with. I sourced the 12v NiCad DeWalt because it was the only drill of quality that I could recharge from a car battery as well as mains and I knew the farm would have no mains power. The original DeWalt batteries are all long gone as DeWalt don't make 12v cordless tools any longer and therefore nothing they have is recharged from car batteries any longer. I did get some aftermarket DeWalt battery paks that have lasted 4 months. I'm now looking at getting in some Panasonic Sub "C" NiCad cells and re-cell the paks myself. If that idea doesn't pan out I'll probably go "Figure 8" cable to battery clamps on a car battery. Not as portable but the 60 Amp instead of 4 amp would be a nice tradeoff aye.professor_jonny wrote: I have seen every drill you can imagine come in except for panasonic tools the batterys never seem to fail I have had mine for 9 years and i use it every day with auger bits and im still on the original 2 batterys and it goes like the day i brought it.

I have a pneumatic rattle gun but the cordless do look good and would be heady in the 4by for wheel changes.
