Starting over
Starting over
Hi hopefully someone can help me, I have a really outdated xbox already modded with xecuter 2 chip. I hope to be able to erase all content from hdd and reinstall the laterst version of xbmc. I haven't really used this console since 360 released so im a little rusty. When I originally did this I used the slayer disc which was super easy so if someone could maybe tell me a updated way to do this I would really appreciate it. thanks

Re: Starting over
you can use slayers to do it now you will just have to manually ftp a newer version of xbmc4xbox across as the one on there is really outdated.
there is also hexen and aid available that will do the same.
hemidall a member on here has a link to download hexen in his signature he is the creator of hexen, there was also a recent releace of slayers a few weeks ago but i have not tried it my self yet.

Re: Starting over
yes mate doing an install with either slayers or hexen let you reformat the hdd before install. Really easy to use with on screen instructions for help. slayers is good but i would really recommend hexen i think this is the gold standard for xbox's these days

120gb hdd, vinyl magma skin, front lights, side strip lights, clear jewel mod with lights, ir dongle mod, hdd indicator. X3 with LCD many mods inc custom x3 jewel.

Re: Starting over
Rather than erasing and reformatting the whole drive, the install discs give you the option to just do C or E or F or G Drives. May save you some time. Also enables you to test as you go. You say you originally used Slayer's to format and I would say you used the default settings meaning your booting app will be in F/ Apps. I always suggest using E/ Apps and to do this with Slayer's, simply tell it you are using a "stock or Retail HDD" in it's settings rather than a "Large HDD". Do this after FTPing XBMC, "latest build" into the folder E/ Apps and if it isn't already in E, create a folder called Apps in E. After you have told Slayer's you have a retail or stock HDD and let it change the shortcut, your machine will now boot the latest version of XBMC in E/Apps instead of the old build in F/Apps.

Re: Starting over
I want to erase everything. When I used this I had a lot of scripts I made my self and a lot of paths are custom. Rather than try to re learn where and how I set everything up I would just like a simple xbmc machine with everything in its default location. I am messing with the hexen disc right now and cant find a option for format or clean install. Maybe im missing something. And also is slayer available anywhere? or do I need to go to the normal places
UPDATE: I ended up finding the partioner which formatted then it was simple. Thanks guys for your help i'm sure i'll have some more questions soon lol
