upgrading from 3.1 stable to 3.2 stable - help

Post by tigershuffle »

Hi,
been using 3.1 on softmod xbox for ages.
Last night - to kill time whilst watching Olympic opening ceremony I thought id try and do a 120gb Chimps upgrade. All went well though it took almost as long as the opening ceremony

2 questions

now Ive downloaded 3.2 which is the best way of updating?! I have Navi X etc on 3.1 on my E drive

also as I now have a 100+ empty F drive is it better to start from scratch and put xbmc on F drive (Ive not added anything to my media folders)

sorry bit of a noob with my xbox...............(Im from the dark side - Wii modder)

cheers

*read some of the other posts........ think im just gonna scrap my old 3.1 and start afresh with 3.2 with added Jans 2.1

any suggestions welcome thoug :?

Jan's build is very good, well worth a look. Stick both that and the stable 3.2 on there (just call one XBMC and the other JansXBMC or somthing like that) and see which you prefer - I would imagine there will soon be another release from Jan based on the 3.2.

Don't stick your XBMC install on drive F, save that for your media. Drive E is a perfect size for your XBMC install and it will probably boot quicker. Always nice to have a small partition for XBMC, that way if anything goes drastically wrong you don't have to format your partition with all your media collection.

EDIT: By the way, welcome to the Xbox world I think you'll find it much more impressive that the Wii when it comes to media playback and emulators.
