Using library from Win XBMC possible?

Post by nonstatic »

Hi all,

I'm wondering if it's possible for XBMC4XBOX to read a Windows XBMC library?

My goal is to have all the scraping done on my old laptop (where the media files are), and to have XBMC4XBOX be able to read all the metadata without scraping itself.

I've tried doing it this way: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HO ... using_UPnP

I can see/play my media and see the thumbnails/fanart, but no additional information such as movie summary/director/etc. This is probably because I am not using Library mode on the Xbox. I wouldn't mind enabling Library mode if I can also stop the Xbox from scraping somehow. Is that possible at all?

I'm not tied to XBMC on the Windows machine, and would be happy using any other tool (Media Companion, etc.) if it can accomplish what I'm trying to do. Does anyone have suggestions?

I'm currently using Filebot and the amazing Automated Media Center script to organize all my media, just in case that matters: http://www.filebot.net/forums/viewtopic ... 1561#p1561

Thanks in advance!

nope they are in different formats but using an old build of xbmc may be compatable but then it probally wont scrape properly any you would be copying the database into xbmc on every change as i dont think xbmc4xbox can have a remote library if you want to have a central library server and upnp only shares the files.

what i have done is scrape the nfo and tbn files in the video folders so just a quick scrape with the setting disable actor thumbs brings up the data in a short time on the xbox.

if i copy or move the media i dont have to rescrape off the net just locally and it is lightning fast.
