RAM

Post by danman9 »

Is there any way to free up some ram on my xbox? It seems my ram bottoms out a lot.
Thanks

Unfortunately I'm not sure the 128Mb upgrade really helps XBMC a lot at the moment... I saw that BuZz submitted some 128mb code but I'm not sure how tested or effective it is at the moment.... could be worth a try for all the 128mb equipped users out there thou! ;)

There are heaps of memory saving tips on the forum... my top ones are... use Confluence Lite, set the fan speed dont let it run on auto, turn off xbox discovery, once you've finished copying to the xbox turn off FTP, turn off the "allow other devices to control xbmc" thing, dont enable full codec support.

My xbox will easily stream/play 720p AVI files without running out of memory.

What is "xbox discovery"? Is that the auto detection? I have already done the following that was mentioned except the 128mb upgrade and no luck in freeing up any ram but thanks for the help guys.
