Confluence lite fanart for games?
Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
something iv just this second found out, if like me you have a game like fable the lost chapters it shows up in the games as Fable: the Lost Chapters but when naming the jpg it kept saving it as Fable_ so would not work.
to fix highlight a game and fetch up the options (white or black button i cant remember now lol) then click edit xbe name remove the : and save, job done.
same goes for a game with a massive name like The King of Fighters Maximum Impact Maniax
all the best

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
nothing...
just a garbled up screen showing the default.tbn for the icon twice. i rolled back to NOTHESAME's version.
can someone post an example of their file directory for an emulator & the fanart with the file names within each.

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
Well it does work 100% because I copied it from my own myprograms.xml and its working just fine here.
The original post was missing the very 1st < then once I copied it the myprograms.xml I had to "stagger" the code to flow the same as the rest as all the 1st < of each line were directly underneath each other.
Beyond this im unable to help as these were the steps I took to make it work for me.
Hope you get it sorted soon

@chunk: it's not that i don't believe that it works. i meant no disrespect. i appreciate your help with this.
the one i have is from link in this post on the first page from NOTTHESAME:
in your post above you said that the '.jpg' file needs the same name as the default when you rename it through xbmc using the rename option when pressing the white button, am i right?

it's complete, i'm just not getting the fanart to work.NOTTHESAME wrote:http://www.sockshare.com/file/4E8AA7332DE0EF9C
here is most views in myprograms if anyone else wants them try them out enjoy
how does this work?
you just add this to your skin and replace the old files(be sure to back up your files)
now you should have most video views in your programs with fanart,
the fanart is also used by making a folder named Fanart in your E or F drive.
once you have this folder download a wallpaper that you want make sure its .jpg name it the same name as your game your gonna give fanart, heres example
Halo
Halo.jpg
this goes for every other games, emulators, shortcuts for roms.
enjoy

if you mean adding xbox game covers or wide banners just put them in the folder of each game named default.tbn so in my case its F:/Games/need for speed most wanted/default.tbn. this should over ride the icons (i think lol)sixties keith wrote:Happy days i got it working as well. now how do i remove the standard pics dvd2xbox has assigned so that i can add different game covers to it?

Can you guys test this and see if it works?
There's a skin setting to enable it and a custom path selection.
Add this below Line 34 of IncludesBackgroundBuilding.xml
Add this below Line 686 of custom_skinSetting_1111.xml
PS: You'll need to Enable and Set the Fanart path in skin settings.

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
selecting the fanart folder you want would be a good idea i can add to one of the next program files i use next.
confluence lite only, programs fanart animation
http://www.sockshare.com/file/0AC4CE2FBBBB5AA8 i just made this but only for testing this fanart in animation, dont replace with your original fanart myprograms.xml this is for testing ill repeat for testing it dont have single fanart active.
example
1.make a folder named fanart in f or e drive
which you may already have
2.make a folder inside of fanart named after the game, halo
folder name : Halo
3.now go and download a gif or video of halo
find a program that converts video or gif to jpg frames.
4. now once you have the frames in a folder, the names of the files should be frames01.jpg
make sure they are start with 0(zero) then the 1
frames01.jpg
or
halo01.jpg
and so on
it should look like this
frame01.jpg
frame02.jpg
frame03.jpg up the where the frames end
now if you havent make a folder inside of your fanart named halo after the name of the game,
put all the files(frames) inside the halo.
now your dont once you do this inside your programs you will highlight halo and it will show animation in the background, if the animation goes to fast or slow dont worry it can be ajust inside myprograms
<framesperimage> i think its called and the number, the high you go the slower you go the lower number you go the faster it will go.
if i missed anything just let me know.
okay about the xmv, im not sure how this would work, but if it would work then great, let me try to see a few codes that maybe run this xmv lets hope we can get something going, maybe i can get another format to run during a preview, i for got let you guys know, that this will be tested on confluence lite only since mostly all users are using this skin, but i can help you guys thoses who dont and get this to run on other skins like xperience that im working on which i hope runs better then the last xperience4xbox i did a 1 or 2 years ago.

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
i havent tested it either but i will in a while i just got home,
about xmv i did notice a few codes for videowindow but nothing about having a video play as a selected item, i havent seen anything like this, unleash x has a code but im not sure if xbmc and unleash sure the same code, i think some1 tired but im not sure.
would it be possible to have the code from a emulator into xbmc so previews, if its not a problem, who would code it, and if this wont be a big thing for gamers and xbmc users.

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
Purely speculative; however, the XMV code from emulators should be different (may violate M$ license and not compatible with XBMC license) and a bit faster as it only deals with one and one codec only; furthermore, it's lighter since it's used for playback only. In XBMC you have to enable full codec and it supports forwarding, pausing, rewinding, etc.
I tried playing XMV via xbmc and it was kinda laggy when I tested it. I have python code to view preview video on selection but again, some lag was noticed and there is no way, afaik, to do it whilst in a regular window, the window must be python generated. In theory the window can be subclassed.
You can, however, add a button and play the file that accompanies the game, provided you stick the video in the game's root directory and maintain consistency in the file name. A user would then click the "play preview" to engage the video for the selected game.

Re: Confluence lite fanart for games?
good thing i asked, i dont want to voilate anycodes or nothing like that, i didnt think of that, having the video with a click button on the side saying preview game, thanks man, i think this can be possible im going to work ask we speak, it hink this would save alot of trouble for alot of xbmc4xbox users and video game users.
