Connection conundrum

Post by Nezza » Mon Jul 15, 2013 5:26 pm

Hi. I'm a relative newbie.

I bought a Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA internal Hard Drive but I can't connect it to my Xbox 1 DVD/CD drive because it hasn't got the right IDE connectors.

Is there an adaptor that has sata connections on one side and ide pins on the other?

Thanks

Many thanks for that.
So after the connection are complete I will be left with a blank HDD. My plan is to FTP the existing files (games, xbmc etc) from the old HDD to my mac then install AID onto the new hdd and then FTP my saved files back. Is that possible?

People are so talkative today
If you tell us how the xbox is modded we can advise you on how to go about the hard drive upgrade :)

Can we just check some of the "d'oh" questions...

Is the power cable connected? Is the IDE cable connected (at both ends!!!) ? Have you accidentally bent any connector pins?

7 - kernel - HDD timeout
Most of the times, the IDE cable is not properly connected when you see this error. Please reattach the ide cable. Not only to the harddisk drive but also to the dvd drive. ALso try to reconnect the ide cable to the motherboard.
Press pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the drives and the motherboard. If you still have an error 7. Try another ide cable. If that won't work try another harddisk. If there is still no go, try to set the jumpers on the rearside of the harddisk drive. Set it to master or cable select.
