Re: Xbox boots into black screen

Problems like that with the power and/or eject buttons with a softmod are unusual and the typical explanation is the beginnings of trace rot. But your description of it actually booting to a black screen with one but with the other resetting to your main dash doesn't really fit in with that either. ...

Re: Xbox boots into black screen

I've just looked at the Startech specs on their own web site and they claim SATA I/II/III Ultra ATA 133 support but I would still not rule out HDD/SSD compatibility issues being the problem. Although not Xbox related recently I had an issue with an external housing which worked fine otherwise except...

Re: Having my softmod sent to be hard modded, do I need to uninstall softmod first?

Certainly not essential. Once it is chipped yes. you need to install a dash set up for a chipped machine but, particularly if your softmod is on the original 8GB - 10GB HDD, what I'd suggest is keeping that softmodded/locked HDD as backup and simply start with a fresh clean, empty larger HDD. You'll...

Re: Basic tutorial on how to burn DVD back-up

Qwix and the C Xbox Tool are the programs most people use for creating XISOs from games files/folders. The Xbox game 'HDD Ready' file content should work from either the HDD or if a XISO is created from their content and burned to disc. DVD-R with ImgBurn is pretty much the default recommendation. D...

Re: Help needed withe old chip-moded XBOX

The problem is likely the DVD drive. Xbox ones are now at least 15 years old and if they've had a lot of use they can become increasingly picky about the media they work with. Another very common problem now is that PC DVD-RW drives are ageing and far less used too and I've had several interactions ...

Re: Help needed withe old chip-moded XBOX

Forget about softmodding a chipped machine. Some pics of the chip in situ so that it can be identified could be useful. A HDD with a modded dash can be prepared on a PC using XBHDM (Xbox HDD maker) but not having done that I'm not one to advise. Being a chipped machine you could do it all on a compl...

Re: Enigma Video Software...is it accurate

You really should not bother with PAL at all. Switch the console to NTSC and leave it there. You'll rarely ever need to swap it back to play the small number of games that are PAL region locked. Most PAL games support NTSC and 480p with a few supporting 720p too. You'll only get the benefit of that ...

Re: costum soundtrack

The problem, as I just found out after a bit of experimenting, is that ST.DB file. It seems to be in some unique format that the Xbox generates itself when you rip a CD to use as custom soundtrack. It is not regenerated if you delete/move it either. You can open it in a program like Libre Office but...

Re: costum soundtrack

I've never added anything to the Custom Soundtrack folder on E:\TDATA directly so I have no idea if there are any wrinkles needed to get them to work. Only thing I remember is something about the WMA music files needing to be WMA9. But the obvious thing to do is surely to rip a retail music CD (assu...

Re: force 480p spider-man 2

If the game doesn't support widescreen then black bars either side of the image area would be expected on a widescreen display. 480p on the Xbox is 640 x 480 progressive scan ie. 4:3 if the game does not support widescreen. As I understand it even if it does support WS then its often not really true...

Re: force 480p spider-man 2

According to the Xbox games' "alternative display modes" list Spiderman 2 does not support WS but you should be able to get it displaying in 480p.

What AV cable type are you using?

Re: fat xplorer Xbox formatting tools

The problem I was having was definitely a specific external housing/WDC HDD firmware issue. The trouble was actually fixed by a FATXplorer update. That very quickly followed after I'd opened a support ticket explaining the trouble. But since I've bought a different (better) external housing supporti...

Re: New hdd and build install

As long as your Xbox DVD drive is working OK the simplest way of doing this is by using a disc like HeXEn although my preference would be to use AID. With AID you get a one-click install menu option for either chipped/TSOPed machines or softmods. Its almost foolproof. Essentially all that happens is...

Re: Please please please help...I think I just deleted my whole XBOX setup

Can't help you directly because the Xenium OS which is pre-installed on the chip your Xbox is using is foreign territory to me. But the fact is your Xbox is chipped and whatever the problem it can be sorted because your Xbox should still be able to boot original games discs and installer/rescue disc...

Re: Can tsopped xbox softmod other Xbox drive?

Six year old thread but still an interesting technique I'd not heard about as a way of unlocking a Xbox whether modded or not. It suggests to me a, now possibly better, use for it with FATXplorer ie. unlocking and then hot-swapping to PC either USB IDE external housing or direct IDE connection if av...

Re: fat xplorer Xbox formatting tools

Thanks for the info. That could be very useful - if I can get the ITB WD AF HDD I want to use to be recognised by FATXplorer which at the moment I can't when it is already FATX formatted with dash installed etc. I've opened a support ticket but my suspicion is that the problem is to do with the USB ...

Re: Bought a Xbox that hasnt been turned on in 14 years.

Any mod hard or soft doesn't affect the ability to play original discs. It adds the ability to play backup discs (DVD-R/ImgBurn) and by install using FTP. Your Xbox is likely softmodded, the retail BIOS being reported by XBMC suggests that. Its a Xbox v1.6 so it can not be be a TSOP. XBMC v2.0 is ve...

Re: Hardmoded Xbox Won't Run Games

It's a v1.6 so there is a possibility it is a 480p issue and your TV doesn't support 480i via Component or whatever cable type you're using. Fable is definitely one of the games on the v1.6 480p patch list but not sure about The Lost Chapters version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZzFDJrN7W8 Rock...

Re: Previews for XBMC4GAMERS

Do you have any other installed dashboards you can test the original XMVs you have? The UnleashX dash is the main reason the preview files are all XMV format as it can't play MP4s. They, the XMVs, should play from the UnleashX file manager wherever you have them and any games with a "preview.xm...

Re: Previews for XBMC4GAMERS

What type of video file are you trying to convert to MP4 using Rocky5's Resize MP4 to Xbox Size tool? I haven't done extensive testing with multiple file types, just some XMV previews I had already made, using another tool, for use with an UnleashX main dash. All I did is download the tool from the ...
