I think it's a bios problem. This xbox i'm having problems with is a V1.6 softmodded xbox, and the other xbox that has no problems accepting longer file names etc is Tsop flashed with IND bios. The weird thing is, i can transfer this file to my other xbox just fine without renaming or shortening the title, but on this xbox it's very fussy about the length of the title or any special characters such as ' or , even.

Why is it i can transfer it to one xbox but not the other?

I use Filezilla and i've noticed that i get a lot of failed transfers with titles with commas or other characters in. Is this Filezilla's fault or is it something else?

Thanks for the replies boys. It was indeed a corroded trace. There was a very very small section, about 1/4 of a mm missing out of a track. I had to use 2 magnifying glasses doubled up to see it. luckily it was on the outer edge by the ethernet port, so a minute blob of solder fixed it.

My xbox randomly turns itself on and the power button is unresponsive. Only way to get it to switch on is the eject button and only way to switch off is pulling the power cable. i found the easiest way without even using a computer is to put a slayers disc in and do it that way. Takes about 30seconds. That is of course if you have a slayers disc.
