Re: Can't run Xbox games in 4:3 after deleting cache
I'm not sure if I have the incorrect bios/cluster size. Don't you need a tsoped xbox to change that stuff? I have a softmodded xbox.

Can't run Xbox games in 4:3 after deleting cache
A few months ago I tried to ftp coinops 8 massive on my xbox and the transfer failed half way through. I decided to re download coinops 8 massive the other day and try again. I deleted the coinops 8 massive files on my xbox hdd from the previous transfer and then uploaded the the coinops 8 massive f...

Re: Worth it to get a component to HDMI adapter?
Why 480p? :? The Xbox is easily capable of outputing 720p over component, and it looks pretty good too! ;) I know but I mainly use my Xbox for playing Xbox games, most of which run in 480p max. I run everything else in at least 720p though and it does look good. It sounds like aside from VGA, I sho...

Worth it to get a component to HDMI adapter?
My Samsung LCD has component inputs I am wondering if 480p would look better upscaled over HDMI vs component. Is there generally a difference in the upscale quality between component and HDMI?

Re: Does fan run at 100% with games in XBMC?
You do realise the Xbox increases the fan speed as the temps increase? So it starts at 20% ( minimum ) and can work it's way up to 100%. ( max ) My apologies , UnleashX does indeed keep the fan at 100% until you do a soft reset. XBMC does not though. ( UnleashX must patch the kernel in memory, same...

Re: Does fan run at 100% with games in XBMC?
You asked for info, we gave you the correct info and yet you still go by what you think. Why ask ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The bios controls the stock fan speed period. Only thing that can permanently change this is patching the bios/kernel, this can be accomplished two ways. 1) NKPatcher ( Patches the kernel in m...

Re: Does fan run at 100% with games in XBMC?
The fan speed is controlled by the bios when a game or homebrew hasn't been coded to change it. That 100% of games and 99% of homebrew. I don't mean to sound like a di*k but I'm not going to go back and forth debating this, what I typed above is correct regardless of what you think is happening by ...

Re: Does fan run at 100% with games in XBMC?
When I run games in UnleashX with the fan speed set at 100% beforehand, the fan seems to stay at 100% while playing games. I am using the Noctua NF-R8 silent fan and it definitely is not powerful enough to keep the Xbox cool at 20% because temps get quite high when I set the fan speed that low while...

Does fan run at 100% with games in XBMC?
I am currently using unleashX to load games from but I like that XBMC can play game isos. I'm using a silent fan that I need to run at 100% to keep the Xbox cool. I thought I had read that XBMC runs the fan at 20% when running games from it. Is this true or can I run the fan at 100% while playing ga...

Plastic smell coming from Xbox
I just installed a new 80 pin IDE cable in my Xbox and when I started playing it I noticed a plastic smell coming from it. It didn't smell like burning plastic but just simply plastic. I thought it might be the new IDE cable so I re-opened my Xbox, took out the DVD drive and HDD and examined everyth...

Yatti, try this adapter, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product. It works perfectly with my Western Digital 640GB HDD and you can change the jumper setting. This one has worked for others here as well.

I also initially used this 18" 80 wire IDE cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200039&cm_re=80_wire_ide_cable-_-12-200-039-_-Product) and had the same problem of it barely fitting but it still worked. Startech also makes a 24" 80 wire cable which is sold on ...

Question about removed clock capacitor
I removed the clock capacitor from my 1.5 Xbox by just pulling it off the motherboard and at the base of the motherboard where the legs connected, that little area looks chewed up. The clock capacitor was bulging and I think this may have been due to capacitor acid eating through the board a little ...

Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
I just wanted to confirm that I have also used the Agestar STI-2 adapter with a 640 GB WD 6400AAKS HDD and it worked fine. The interesting thing is that I was able to clone my original Xbox HDD to the new one using chimp with the original Xbox IDE cable but I have to use an 80-pin IDE cable to actua...

Re: Are my temps normal?
Another thing to remember is the voltage being applied to the fan via the motherboard is maximum 6v. Most fans are 12v. You can get 12v from the HDD, which is double the 5x/100% setting. Doesn't your suggested method involve soldering? I don't know how to solder. I have read that you can pull the b...
