Re: weird time/date issue

It turns my eeprom was corrupted, probably because I transplanted the physical eeprom from another xbox. Using the "last resort recovery" option on xblast OS fixed it completely. Thank you psyko chewbacca. Bumping thread to recommend xblast to any future readers with eeprom problems. What a beautifu...

Re: weird time/date issue

After getting this board I plugged my xecuter in, loaded slayers and used the flash tsop option. So I dunno what you mean about softmodding.

Anyway, I'm just about to nuke everything and rebuild from scratch, Thanks everyone for trying.

Re: weird time/date issue

I was never softmodded. This xbox is tsop'd. Manually entering the time or date in settings results in a random combo from the 17th century.

None of those is true in my case, except for not being connected to the internet.

Re: Case Mods Showcase

Never thought I'd see faux-wood panelling actually look good on something.

The green of the jewel does not colour conflict with it, too, but surprisingly compliments it.

Very sexy.

Re: weird time/date issue

No, sorry. This xbox is tsop'd. There was never a softmod.

weird time/date issue

While the splash video was playing I clicked shutdown from the right thumbstick menu. Upon rebooting xbmc, all the system settings reverted and trying to set the time and date always results in something random from the 17th century....or the 90th century. :? I guess something got damaged but the on...

Re: Preparing for RAM Upgrade

Re:soldering I used an ordinary heat gun, and a protective layer of aluminum foil pressed onto the board, with a rectangle cut-out for the modules. A copper cable sleeve to hold them firmly to their pads. And some paste flux. I don't know if they use lead-free solder or not, but based on my tests wi...

Re: Question about washing xbox case in dishwasher

Dishwasher + detergent will turn that metal shielding into solid rust.

odd fragging

I have a 1.3 unit with a 2.6CE soldered in, flashed with x2 5035 bios. It frags about half the time when booting from 5035 or bank 2 which is unflashed. If I shut it off and boot from MS then reboot from the chip, it suddenly works again.

Any ideas why it does this?

Re: xbox turns itself off

By the way if you ever quit troubleshooting and move on to the new box with a 2.6, I'd suggest learning to solder, and perform the rebuild. As a motherboard gets warm the lpc holes tend to expand enough to lose connection with one or more pins on the solderless xapt3rs, causing a FRAG upon powering-...

Re: Case Mods Showcase

In addition to a blue cathode ring, you will want to spray the underside of the jewel with a couple coats of frosted glass finish -- krylon makes some -- to diffuse the light, because a transparent jewel won't glow. For my xbox I polished the area of metal shielding directly below the jewel, too, wi...

Re: Slim fan

With cardboard duct in my slim I'm seeing an almost 10 degree drop as others have said. So I tested it with 10% fan. ... And I never use 10%. It scares me. My current bedroom temperature is 75F/23C. My fan (60x25 delta AFB0612EH --- 6800rpm) is running near-silent at 10%. The CPU and GPU after playi...
