Re: Just got my hands on a classic Xbox - looking for some advice

On the (i) information screen (click down on the right stick to bring up the shutdown menu which with many skins includes that) it should show the specific XBMC version at the bottom in front of the revision number. The current, likely final, XBMC is v3.5.3, on the Xbox I've just checked it is shown...

Re: Black screen rebooting after a softmod, boots OK with official dashboard

What a weird, obscure cause for such a problem. I've learned something new. Glad you have it sorted. Makes me wonder about a problem I've had with certain Xboxes and getting generic MS dash files to work. Those Xboxes only work with their own MS dash files which of course would be using the correct ...

Re: Black screen rebooting after a softmod, boots OK with official dashboard

I've been thinking about it and I can not make any sense of what is happening. What it seems to boil down to is that it works until you disconnect the power. If it was a clock cap issue you'd expect an error 16 but you get a blank screen. No unusual LED flashing? Are you sure its a v1.0? If it was a...

Re: Black screen rebooting after a softmod, boots OK with official dashboard

So you built the new HDD using XBHDM USB in stock configuration, locking it and it works perfectly. You installed the SC PAL installer/exploit saves, boot the SC disc, clicked on Checkpoints and got to the installer dashboard and used that to softmod it. All installed correctly and it worked when yo...

Re: Need help identifying my mod chip/problem with xbmc

No If XBMC is v1.1.0 that is almost pre-historic. The last version of XBMC is v3.5.3 but using an ancient XBMC does not explain the problem. Have you tried installing a fresh copy of UnleashX or Avalaunch as I suggested? Is there any indication if a chip is fitted and working other than the Xecuter ...

Re: How do I upgrade my hard drive for my hardmodded OG-XBOX?

You can use XBHDM (Xbox Hard-drive Maker) to build a new Xbox HDD but unless you're using a Xbox that is chipped or TSOPed you have to lock it with the eeprom from the Xbox it i going to used in. There's a USB version of XBHDM and the original for use if you have an old PC with IDE connections. Simp...

Re: Need help identifying my mod chip/problem with xbmc

Could just be the path it is using to find Apps etc has been changed. What version XBMC? Click down on right stick to bring up the shutdown menu which includes (i) for system information if you click on that option you should see the XBMC version at the bottom. You can also glean a lot of other usef...

Re: Accidentally deleted G/DVDdrive resource/share?

It is a bit above my knowledge level but if you delete the G drive contents there's no way I know of recovering it. But...................you shouldn't have been able to delete the whole G:\ drive at least not easily using your Xbox. The stuff about deleting your DVD drive makes no sense either. So ...

Re: Soft Mod Problem

As said I'm not any sort of authority on R5's XBSMT but I thought preserved anything on F:\ if the correct option was used. Maybe that's just Chimp - you'll have to ask him or somebody else who knows more about it than I do. The F:\drive is shown at the expected size in the UnleashX system informati...

Re: Soft Mod Problem

I think the best thing is not to worry about what the softmod is now. Assume it is messed up and needs replacing - the obvious thing to suggest is actually to use Rocky5's XBSMT and once the installer dash is booted (fingers crossed) and, probably , use an option to update an old softmod. However I'...

Re: Soft Mod Problem

Again, EvoX is a just a dashboard not a softmod. So I'm guessing whatever it was you used for the soft installed an EvoX dash, that's all. Most softmods installers use both UnleashX and EvoX dash tools ie. the main GUI is, as I think I mentioned earlier, typically just a modified UnleashX dash but t...

Re: Soft Mod Problem

The method you're talking about is specific to Rocky5's XBSMT so you've probably come to the right place. This is what he said in reply to another post on a similar matter a couple of years ago:- These instructions are for use, only if you used "Factory Reset" option on the "Xbox Softmodding Tool Ex...

Re: Xbox1 error 05, chip DuoX2

If the chip is turned on and it is working what, exactly, is the problem? Fit a new virgin HDD and cold boot an installer disc (burned on DVD-R using ImgBurn) like HeXEn or AID to format and install a dashboard. If you turn the chip off and the HDD drive is unlocked when it boots of course it is goi...

Re: Error 13 / Can't boot hexen

If you tried with a new HDD and it still would not cold boot an installer disc its not a HDD issue. It could be a chip issue but without the eeprom to lock the original HDD and test it with the chip off I'm not sure what to suggest.

Have tried cold booting an original game disc?

Re: Error 13 / Can't boot hexen

With a console in long storage it could be a leaking clock capacitor which has damaged some traces. Other capacitors are known to fail too so check for leaks and bulging. However error 13 is a bit unusual in such circumstances - dashboard fails to launch. Are you cold booting HeXEn and is it burned ...

Re: XBOX shuts down after xbmc logo

Interesting information so a powersave/over-heating issue; had not read that other thread and the potentially very useful information there. I do think though that the report of the temperature being up to 70C should be considered very worrying. With my v1.6 (which reports notably higher temps than ...

Re: Changing Region - Won't save

Well you need to know whether you are using it because if you are it is probably the cause of the problem not being able to save the region change settings permanently. Shadow C is just a way of protecting your real C:\ drive from unwanted changes. Its effectively a virtual C:\drive which reverts ba...

Re: Changing Region - Won't save

Sounds like a typical Shadow C annoyance to me too but how are you exiting Enigmah? It has, also annoyingly, no formal exit button. If you're shutting down the Xbox then restarting and have a Shadow C that's why it is reverting back to the original settings. You should use the controller reset optio...

Re: Softmod with ide to sata

All normal behaviour. The Xbox HDD and MB are locked together via an eeprom, effectively an key code and although it is possible to hot swap and build a new softmodded HDD using XBHDM USB it is risky. No burned disc is going to boot on an unmodded Xbox and no HDD, even if unlocked, formatted to FATX...

Motherboard/Power Board Screws

Does anyone here know exactly what the screw size/type are used for the 13 screws which secure the Xbox MB (motherboard) and PB (power-board)? I've asked around in other forums and the only suggestion I've had so far is that they might be MS custom screws. Obviously they're Torx10 with what are call...
