Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
Make sure to try it on cable select which is normally no link in place at all on the adapter. Try it 1st on a sata HDD that was built using an install disc like Slayer but don't re-cluster the F and G drive till you see it works. The HDD will still work even though it's F and G drives aren't cluste...

Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
Sorry for the late reply, but that adapter doesn't work that well sadly. It seems to waste a lot of bandwidth and prevents apps from working properly and games take forever to load from the DVD drive. It's a neat little compact component, but sadly doesn't preform that well. If anyone here wants to ...

Re: Stig of the dump!
Whilst on one of my many runs to the local council refuse site to dump more of my house that I've pulled apart whilst doing a loft conversion my eye was draw to what looked like a Cooler-Master PC case. I strategically started to walk closer to it and caught a glimpse of a very dusty copper Zalman ...

Re: Check Out What I Got in the Mail Today
For collectability the Greatest Hits makes it not as desirable if selling "as new" so the best bet for the money is to play them. FF VII is my favorite game, but I haven't finished any of these titles you bought I don't really care much for collecting them. I keep my games and rarely sell...

Check Out What I Got in the Mail Today
I've never actually sat down and played a jRPG like these before, saw they were brand new and $50 all together and figured, why not get it?

Re: Philips Troubleshooting
the screw that hold the rail at the end have levelling and you have to adjust them to the same as they were before you removed the laser. Did you remove the static solder blob that protects the laser during transit if not expect a dead controller chip or driver if not you may need a new control boa...

Re: Philips Troubleshooting
Just got a new laser in and it still doesn't work... I made the screws that keep the laser supports tight and that makes the laser grind against the motor that spins the disc, but loosening the screws doesn't work either. This is weird, but these things are over like 10 years old.

Re: How can I upgrade xbox kernel?
How would having a modded BIOS that no longer requires a locked HDD factor into this? Softmods requires your HDD to be locked. A softmod Xbox initially boots from the retail kernel (which requires a locked HDD to succesfully boot) and will load the exploit that will patch the retail kernel(nkpatche...

Re: How can I upgrade xbox kernel?
I know this thread is necro, but posting to clear future confusion for future seekers: A shadow C is a file that is on your E partition that get's mounted as your C drive. Your real C drive contains mod files required to boot the system and activate the shadow, and let you fix things when something...

Re: Philips Troubleshooting
it's easier to buy another xbox and swap out the drive as needed for modding, then just get used to FTPing the files. most games will run on the HDD just fine, but you might not be able to run a few if on a stock HDD ever think of case modding? now you have the parts for a slim, just save the broke...

Re: Philips Troubleshooting
So I've taken the drive apart and kept the top of the metal casing off and put the metal spinal down on the disc motor to see what it does and it just stays in one place and attempts to read whatever disc I put in three times then gives me the error that there isn't a readable disc in the Xbox. I'm ...

Philips Troubleshooting
I disassembled a Philips drive, cleaned it, re-greased it, and put it back together how it should be, but it won't read games. The Xbox it's in runs just fine to the MSdash,(it's not softmodded) but shouldn't it give me a system error and tell me to send my console to Microsoft if there's a hardware...

Re: Question About BGA Rework
It depends what you want to do and how much you want to spend. I would go for a jig that is direct heat as you will end up bending the stensils removing them or having trouble getting them off, also something you can tip the balls in and swirl it around makes it less wastefull and where you can tip...

Question About BGA Rework
Is this good for BGA rework http://tinyurl.com/l8u25f5 to go along with my Yihue 858D and just get a decent thing to clamp a chip down or should I just save up for a professional rework station like this http://tinyurl.com/kwkmul5? I have a good amount of free time and soon money so I'm more than wi...
