Re: XBOX 2TB SATA Upgrade Tutorial

I was trying at first to make a large 2TB "F Only" setup. The tutorial as you describe is the way I can get it to work, although it does not work properly with X3 bios. That's strange. I can remember using THREE 2TB drives (with that Xtender IDE Switch Kit) with the X3 BIOS. Are you using a genuine...

Re: Is XVID HD worth it?

I think if you're going to include 2 video playback engines you should update them both. That's a bit negative mplayer is not official supported I believe and has been kept in there for legacy reasons and for bench mark and testing purposes to compair with the new video engine. Your welcome to code...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

UPDATED - What's New? [ 2013-07-07 ] * New Content w/Links added to Tutorial * Inclusion of Configured Xvid-HD Staxrip Profile * XBOX4XBMC 3.1 STABLE has no problem playing back these XViD-HD encodes using "dvdplayer" and until newer versions can be tested is the optimal choice for playback unless ...

Re: XBOX 2TB SATA Upgrade Tutorial

I tried multiple times with both XBPartitioner 1.1 and 1.3 (first 1.1, then 1.3 to format the biggest chunk, etc etc) to get a properly formatted 128 cluster size. No-go, and ended up with 2 1TB partitions. All this really does is prevent me from trying Mugen on my main box. I'll have to format ano...

Re: Is XVID HD worth it?

I wrote a tutorial that deals with using the XVID-HD codec for 720p video. The quality is by far superior to that of how BuZz is transcoding his MKV files with ffmpeg. However, it seems to have some issues playing back video on certain builds of XBMC4XBOX using DVDPLAYER where it will drop/skip fram...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

It really depends on your build. Per say under XBMC-8.10-FINAL-T3CH-PROPER you'd set the main hdd video cache to 8,192kb and I never use any skin except Project Mayhem III. I might change the font. I've used other skins in the past with no impact on video playback, but they have always been included...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

Why don't you just use handbrake and change the settings? Good question! It is because there are issues with the encodes it produces and it lacks the ability to tailor the video to the exact specifications I've found to be the best for XViD-HD playback under XBMC4XBox using MPlayer. Just like XVID4...

Re: FTP - How To Get Maximum Speeds

When I need to upload something large (large => 10GB) I use "Auto Deluxe Installer" via booting it from disc and I get almost full 100 Mbit p/s . Sorry, but that's simply not possible. Ethernet rarely runs at more than sustained 80-90 MBit/s because of inter-frame gaps etc., and with FTP overheads ...

Re: FTP - How To Get Maximum Speeds

No matter how many connections I set to transfer files does not effect the transfer of single large files that run at around 2-3MByte p/s under XBMC. Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

-- It seems to be an isolated case as as long as you use "mplayer" to play your videos encoding using this guide they work fine. I had a few people test a video and a couple I saw in person. Played fine on their setup, but not mine. The only other variable I could think of was the 2TB HDD and adapt...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

Just out of curiosity, exactly what old build are you using? There used to be a a full T3CH build which I think included a whole load more codecs and stuff didn't there? There were always two choices - a big build and a smaller build, could it be that you're using the big bloated one? XBMC-9.04-BAB...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

sounds like you used the wrong version of ffmpeg (ie outdated) and the parameters were not understood correctly (I don't think the encodes are as bad as you are making out - im not saying they look better than XVID, but it works well for me and others who have tried and you can guarantee frames are...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

Well I don't agree. Perhaps you encoded them differently from me. There are other threads about this you can check for my settings. Mplayer settings are in the same place, just called mplayer cache instead of cache. btw one advantage to mkv container is it doesn't have the limits of xvid, and you c...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

the xbox will also work better with encodes done using ffmpeg's mpeg4 codec (in mkv container for best flexibility when transcoding). if you need more than 4mb cache to play back something, it sounds like you are hitting the limits in some scenes. So I found that ffmpeg's mpeg4 codec is the simple ...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

nothing has changed for the worse really - as I said, ffmpeg library changes are likely to have moved towards quality over speed in some cases (when comparing the ancient mplayer ffmpeg libs against the new dvdplayer ones). the xbox will also work better with encodes done using ffmpeg's mpeg4 codec...

Re: Convert MKV to XViD-HD (BRRIP) for XBMC, PS3OS, Wii, etc

I'm a little confused, primarily because you are not giving any specific information regarding versions of software here. you refer to the settings, and then say you've yet to try xbmc4xbox yet ? the hard disk cache was changed from 16384Kb max to 4096Kb max back in 2005 (- 07-07-2005 changed: Drop...
