I think I did a v1.2 Winbond TSOP, but most of them have been v1.4s, several with Winbonds, all with HeXEn.

I posted my experiences on the old forum so that the info was shared and wouldn't be lost :-(.

Just run HEXEN and go to "3.3. Winbond Flash" :)

heres what i got:
boot with heXEn- choose option 3(TSOP Flashed)- pick option 3.3(Winbond Flash)- choose my BIOS 3.3.1(5003.67)- "yes" through next 3 windows, the second of which warns only for 1.4&1.5,and the third saying "Resctoox" is going to load, and use D-pad to choose "advanced". Now its not Rectoox that loads its "Gentoox" and I've tried numerous times and can not use D-pad or any other button for that matter to select/change in Gentoox, CD/Dvd is highlighted and after a quick 5secs it wants a boot disk. :?

You have to use original Microsoft controller. Plug it into port 1. Gentoox doesn't like third party controllers.

From memory it's normal that it boots Gentoox. I think the instructions immediately preceeding it loading tell you to select an option (think it's "HDD") before the 5 second default timeout.

Thank you this was the problem, only now I get flash failed! Guess I'll have to check solder points.
