[Solved] Modchipped Xbox won't boot Hexen with new HDD

EDIT: Solved! Turns out the box wasn't compatible with this particular drive (Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB ATA/133 HDD YAR41BWO), for some reason. Tried a different one and it worked.

I've been trying to boot the Hexen 2017 disc, to format and install a new harddrive.
But, the disc just doesn't boot with the new HDD connected. It gets stuck at the blue Xbox / Linux logo and only boots with the original harddrive..
What am I doing wrong?
