I have problem playing few files (mostly downloaded TV shows). Gspot reports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec, resolution is 720x402, data rate 883kbps. I was under impression that XBMC can hadle this type of file, but all i get is light grey picture and then every couple of seconds one frame of actual movie (maybe key frame?). I'm using xbmc 3.2 as dashborad, (installed some other version via AID disc, then i've ftp-ed latest (3.2) release ). If it is of any importance, xbox is switched to NTSC so I could use component output (set at 720p). All i know is that xvid, div3 files play flawleslly, but not h264.
Also, i forgot to mention that sound is OK, no stutter on freezing.

You probably are using mplayer, try to play that file with dvdplayer.

Maza might be right, that sounds like Mplayer with MP4 content. Either press white button and Play Using... > DVD Player or set DVD Player as a default in Settings > Video > Player.

Also, set the DVDPlayer, full codec support disabled, Video Cache to (3328, 6 second) leave audio Chache @ 1024 8 second, HQ pixel shader v.1, Fan at 30% override, Filter to skip non-key frames, flicker filter 0, weave or bob-invered interlaced handleing(weave if 30fps NTSC), also use either Conflugence lite or Mosaic skin, have smb shares, ftp and remote xbmc control disabled

With those settings a 856x478 H.264 Video will start almost instantly, won't buffer out or crash.

And have 10mb of Ram in the Hole.

My XBMC4Xbox will play alot of video My EDEN won't simply because no Cache support in EDEN

[For SD televisions use standard av cables, disable flicker filter, no image soften & weave interlaced handling(helps flicker issues)
