Hi

I know I can search and get most of the info i need, but i find it better to ask some times. What is the best way to softmod and optional change the hdd on an xbox today? If you have found a good guide, please linkt to it :) This will either way be a good thread for people to find :)

Also, what are the best sources for getting an IDE HDD?

I tried a source on amazon for IDE drives, GoHardDrive I think it was. Most reputable dealer on Amazon for hard drives but I think that's mostly based on their fast response to return requests. Bought three from them. First two were Dead on arrival. Third died a slow death. Won't put up with that again. A brand-spankin'-new SATA drive is really the way to go. As for how to go about doing it, that really depends on your hardware situation. If you get that crystal xbox working again it could make life easier as you could use it to manage drive cloning and locking with chimp, just Zero the unique HDD Key on both Xboxes first so the drives are interchangeable. Other than that, any video on YouTube explaining how to wield Chimp proper is what you're after. Suggest watching a few different videos on Chimp.

I will look into chimp :) before I have checked anything, I guess chimp won't fit on 8mb Xbox card? Think I will take one of the memory slots out of a controller and put an USB in there instead.
