ok recently updated from 31085 to 31600

this is not good as it's something we do a lot!
bug or feature that's taking more time?

now, there are some offline sources/computers. is this the cause? will try cleaning up sources.xml and report back.

either way it's got much slower!

actually its more interesting than that. log shows its trying to open sources that no longer exist in sources.xml

any ideas why?

errors are c0000034 and 0000122

Have you tried cleaning your library (Settings > Video).

STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND 0xC0000034
STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME 0xC0000122

I would enable it anyway and then try clean, then disable it back. Do you use profiles? Cause I think each profile has it's own source file (could be wrong, just thinking it makes sense).

enabling library. cleaning, then disabling seems to have sped it right up nice.

weird though, as i said i don't use library, and have never used library, so is this a bug? (checking paths it shouldn't be).

the paths are remnants of old sources.xml.

have to think of users finding xbmc slow as s**t and never doing the clean because they wouldn't know to.

I'm not sure but I think it might use some tables in the Movies.db to store movie information, whether you use library or not. It's possible when it does the scan it checks those entries as well. You could file a bug if you want...
