Is adding support for playback of 96/24 audio something thats on the to do list? Deluxe Album compilations now often have a 96/24 version of the album on a DVD Examples Pink Floyd's Dark Side and Wish You Were Here to name a few.

If so will it support full bit rate playback or down sampling?

It seems it might be needed in order to playback some BRrips.

Support for SACD and DVD-Audio playback might be a plus, but I doubt many people use those formats all that often. Personally, I have 4 or 5 DVD-Audio discs and a single DTS 96/24 DVD.

I have Queen Greatest Hits Vol:1 encoded in DTS 96/24, 5.1 The codec banner reads (DCA, 0 Channels) (aq:>20% @>1536 kbps) while listening there is severe quality loss, particularly on the high end.

I don't have my xbox connected to an amp so I don't know if the amp is able to decode the track properly or if XBOX supports 96/24 pass through.

Also(What is the max bit LPCM XBMC4Xbox supports? I have a Pearl Jam concert DVD which is 1536 kbps @ 48/16?)

I'm no export on dts and I may have this wrong, but I believe that a dts stream with 96/24 still contains the playable 48/16 audio, but I have no idea if the passthrough code sends the 96/24 information intact, or if ffmpeg is adjusting it. not all hardware supports 96/24 over toslink etc anyway.

I think its best to assume 48/16 is the max, but I think 5.1 dts at 1500kbit sounds very nice anyway.

Downsampled 96/24 through analouge does playback, with heavy distortion.

DTS 96/24 from DVD source is 48/16 core + 48/8 extension.

I know DVD-A Dolby Digital is 96/24 also.

96/24 bandwidth is used to encode: 6.1, 7.1 also bitrate

DTS-ES, Dolby Digital: EX, DTS 96/24, Dolby True HD and DTS-MA are all 96/24 codecs(However special equipment is needed to compress/downsample Dolby True HD)

Has anyone tried playing back a DTS-MA 96/24 Core?

DTS-MA soundtrack contains 2 separate signals.

The first: 96/24 up to 7.1 channels @1.5mbps

The Second: 192/24 up to 7.1 channels @ 24.5mbps

If you want to hear a 96/24 BlueRay DTS track without signal loss(missing high-hats missing bass)on older equipment that does not support DTS-ES(96/24) you must enable 48/16 downsampleing via BlueRay player menu.
