Anyway to rebuild a XBOX with a faulty drive?

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help me. I got a XBOX that has a fried hard drive. I mean you can't boot into it at all. Running XBOXHDM does not help since for whatever reason I can never get it into unlocked state.
Is there anyway to rebuild a XBOX hard drive without getting access to the original HDD's EEPROM bin file? If I need a chip, is there a chip that you can recommend that's easy to install and remove that can help rebuild a brand new hard drive?
Thanks for any help in advance.

I have same problem with one of my consoles...
I'd say you'd probably have to get a modchip, the Aladdin will do.
Once modded you'd be able to install an alternative drive.
If you wish you could lock the drive then remove the chip.
I'm not sure how this would effect a softmoded console.
But if your getting a chip you may as well leave it installed.
My thought anyways...

Thanks for the reply. Where would be a good place to get a cheap Aladdin chip?
Also, if I TSOP the XBOX, will it allow me to install any third party hard drive without getting the original HDD involved?

I found them on aliexpress for $6 USD or $8.40 AUD with free international postage
But coming from china the postage could take upto a month,
I'm sure you could find them locally but expect to pay a little more

If your installing a Modchip you will not need to TSOP flash the console...
But "yes" you will be able to install another HDD without retail HDD.
You wont even need to worry about eeprom or locking the drive.
You'll just need a auto-installer to format and install dashboards etc...

Grab a chip like Nemesis suggests, be careful though because some of those Aladdin's do not come pre-flashed with a BIOS that you can use so you'll have to figure that out first. I would recommend either borrowing or trying to find an DuoX2, super simple and easy to use and usually come with a good BIOS on it already. You'll need a 100% working xbox to flash a chip (if flashing is needed) or TSOP the xbox.

I actually got a blank aladdin, do I just boot with another chip, swap and flash?

Depends on which one, some of those have to have an external programmer (stupid). If it's not that style you could do a hotswap like your talking about and flash the chip. To make it easier for you I recommend having two D0 wires attached to the motherboard(use the bottom point)so that you can literally swap the chips without having to solder anything to a chip during your process, much easier. I've done this with DuoX2's plenty of times and it should work. Just a note, this will not work if you TSOP the xbox, boot it up and then install a chip and flash, that wont work.

I bought an adapter a few months ago, I can't remember where, but it pulled the EEPROM off the mother board with a serial adapter, and I used that to repair my drove when It died and I lost my drive creator. I think you can find it by googling xbox EEPROM soft mod tutorial.

Hi everyone! Just a new one here... I got a fried and corrupted hdd (350gb) too since it was not use for years... At first boot, it gave me a E07 and it says I need a service support... I searched it in the internet and it says that some of the cables maybe loosen... So I remove the ide drive in all the hdd, dvd drive and motherboard and still no changes, so I try to change the pc type hdd (80gb) and gave me a E16 Very confused what will I do first, will I change the chip? Or try/use hexen? Or any other solutions? A good reply and tips are very appreciated! Thank you!
