If a XBOX stop keep tracking of time, will removing the clock capacitor fix the problem? If not, would a softmodded one keep track of the time via the network? What are the ways to force it to keep track of the time?

Thanks for any help in advance!

If the Xbox is connected permently to the internet and the mains cable is plugged in. Yes it should retain the time with the clock cap removed :)

You really should just remove the clock cap regardless to eliminate future tears 8-) (xbox versions 1 to 1.5 ) the aerogel capacitors leak eventually :-( .
As nidge said internet connection is needed to keep correct time .
You could always put in a new capacitor if you really want to ......8-)

There will be no problem if your Xbox is constantly connected to the internet. Once you are connected to the internet it will update the time automatically and will retain the time tracker. Before trying to take the clock capacitor out try exploring the settings first you may possibly solve the problem them; If not then resort in taking the cap out.
