Someone asked me to fix an old XBOX that turns on immediately after I plugged in the power plug. The on/off button does not seem to work. Is there any fix to this? Thanks for any help in advance.

Power supply fault or broken tracks on the motherboard? :)

Power supply seems ok. I will test with another power supply and report back. Can you specify what do you mean by broken tracks on the motherboard?

I mean the circuit board tracks may need re-soldering. Be careful if you use another psu, there were several different versions of the original xbox and the psu pin arrangements changed :(

Check this out, worked for me on a couple of boxes. If you check the rails on the bottom front edge you will probably have one with a tiny gap :) http://www.theisozone.com/tutorials/xbo ... on-repair/

Trace corrosion for sure.

I had the problem on one. Ended up bumping a tiny resistor off the board and losing it before I could see if it worked. There were sections of the board mainly along a bottom edge that were corroded but only saw maybe 3 questionable traces.

Is there anyway to fix this or if it is not even worth fixing?

You can fix it easily.
Just solder a wire, shorting corroded trace.
