Japanese v1.6

Unbelievably someone brought round a Japanese v1.6 for me to fix (how on earth did that end up at Longstanton Spice Museum?) . I've fixed it but can't softmod it because it's region locked and my PAL Splinter Cell won't boot.
Time to fit a modchip to get the exploit sorted out, softmod it, and remove the modchip. Any gotchas?

and its does not have a 100 volt psu? it is unlikely a jap one if it does not have a 100-120v psu.
Has it been opened ?

It did at one point - the sticker by the power socket says so.

Yes. Presumably to replace the PSU with a 220-240V version. ...which had failed at the solder joints on the socket - easy fix.
BTW, it's now softmodded - I went ahead and followed my instinct.

how did you get past the region lock and booting up splintercell?

By installing the chip, booting a burned ISO to install the Softmod, then removing the chip.

Correct.
...Sorry I missed Munch's post last week.
