You need 4 chips. In which version Xbox will you be installing the RAM?

And, about CPU. Yes it is better to have both. But RAM is definitely better if you were to only choose one.

Do you know that you must lead? It is a hard thing. N64 and trusty are selling xboxes with this upgrade and a better cpu (1GHz or 1,4GHZ). Send them a PM for a price or look at the marketplace on this side. It is the best way to get one of the modded XBOXes. I order one of them from N64. When he prepared one of them ( i have some other things in it then normally XD) i will take screenshots and photos up here. I heared that trusty is from China and N64 is from Germany, it takes some time for shipping.

You can desolder RAM chips from other Xbox motherboard or buy new chips. They are available in China.

I have some RAM chips, PM me how much do you need.

Way cool.

Any second sources? (Mr Majster, any details on your Chinese supplier?)

I bought 4 on ebay, shipped out of China.

Never could get the first one installed properly with my hot air gun. I might have ruined the one I attempted installing (bent a couple pins trying to remove it again). x_X

I'd happily send them forward. They were about $20 shipped.

Have you the right label from that chips ( a datasheet was fine, too). And the ebay link was fine too.

Got 20 of these (not from the same seller at the time but same part number):

Installed 16 of 20 up to now and they all work fine.

Did they ever make chips that were a larger memory size but the same pinouts? so instead of 16mb each.. say 32mb each?

Anyone ever tried adding larger capacity RAM chips?

SAMSUNG K4D263238D-QC50

I believe you should be able to use:
K4D263238D-QC50
K4D263238F-QC50
K4D263238M-QC50

And possibly 1 more. It depends what Xbox version you have. You should consult with your Xbox and try to get the type that matches your other chips. That being said, I remember reading that K4D263238M is compatible with all revisions (except 1.6/1.6b of course).

K4D263238D and K4D263238F support faster speeds than K4D263238M. K4D263238F is lead-free compared to K4D263238D. So, all 3 will work just fine in a Xbox, as long as the speed grade is QC50(F and D don't have slower than QC50). I would prefer K4D263238D/F since they are revised chips and consume less power than K4D263238M. 1.8W per chip instead of 2.0W, a little less heat in console and lighter load on the PSU.
