I've been looking to see if this is a current feature.

I want to auto load the games section on startup, since thats what I use most. Is this possible?

Yes it's possible.

Navigate to the Programs section, If not already added, add your Games folder as a source. Name it Games so skin submenus works.
Highlight that source and open the context menu (white button on gamepad, title button on dvd remote) then select Make default.
Navigate to System > Settings > Appearance > Skin: Set Startup window to Programs.
