XBMC4Xbox

Hi I have recently bought a modded crystal xbox from ebay and I was wondering if there is some way I check the software is up to date how to update it and just how to use it in general I know how to burn games into the hard drive and access the startup menu for the chip that about it

First things first:
What dashboard does it boot to? ...and is that the dashboard you want it to boot to.

It boots to evolution x and I don't mind but I'm sure isn't the most up to date version but I'm not sure

Putting that aside...
- The program you want to rip games to your hard drive is DVD2XBOX. All the installer discs include it - my favourite is HeXEn, you'll find plenty of information in this forum about where to get it, or just use google. That installer disc will also help you re-configure and/or update your xbox installation more generally.
- to find out whether you have a recent or old XBMC version have a look at the System Info. Depending on skin, you'll usually find it in the System -> Settings menu, or somewhere else! You can get a new one from the location in the top post in the XBMC4XBOX Development category of this forum.

Okay so I'll burn a copy of hexEN to a disc I all rest have dvd2xbox but like you said it might be older version is there a guide on how to use the install or is it very straight forward and also how do I use the USB ports on my xbox ?

Like what I said first time to make sure everything is up to date and how to use the hexEN program and also another question how do use the USB ports on my xbox as well

As I said first time, what is it that you want to do with your USB ports?

Be able to transfer small files with USB stick and wondering what else I can use them for

If you use Linux on it they can be used for a keyboard and mouse.

Nobody really understand what I'm saying here the photo I have attached how do I use these not a USB adapter

If you take a look at the wiki you would need something like a 2gb fat32 USB stick - have you check checked your USB stick you're trying to use is compatible?

I have tried a USB 16 gb and can you give me a link to the wiki page I can't find it ?

Okay I understand now I know I mentioned it before but I have managed to up xbmc through FTP running version 3.3.3 now and was wondering how do I update my dashboards like evolution x and unleashed x and will I loose my any data if I do ?

you can update evox and unleash but you can use xbmc as your dashboard instead. it's the most popular dash for the Xbox and it's updated often. did you see my pm?

If you wanted to update the evox and unleash dashboards on your system I think you can do that with the hexen disc - its a fantastic recovery disc and is useful to have handy anyway. Saying that uf youve managed to update xbmc via ftp you cab do the same with the other dashs. As destronger mentions xbmc is the only dash you'll really need to update.

Yeah I would still prefer to have Eco x and unleashed at there latest versions so can sen me a video link or a guide on how to update them through FTP or DVD I don't mind
