XBMC4Xbox

I'm building an Xbox laptop so I can have emulators and Xbox games on the go but I need a power supply powerfull enough to power the board, the screen, and the audio amp for speakers and it needs to be slim any suggestions?

guess it all depends on how big you want this laptop to be, If I was going to build one i would go for ultra slim and keep the psu remote and prob sling it in a 360 psu case.

Several years ago I cobbled together an xbox micro, unfortunately that thread was lost with the old forums but all the pictures are still here:

I used a pico psu and one of those phat 360 power supplies. The one I've got here outputs 16.5 amps at 12v, although I don't remember if that's the one I used. I also have a couple of slim 360 ones here that output 10.83 amps at 12v. I think either of them would be adequate to power an xbox and LCD screen.
An issue that I remember was the pico PSU needed to supply quite a lot of amps for a few seconds when the xbox started up, the first one I got couldn't do that so I had to return it for a better one.

As far as I know all the batteries actually in laptops use propriety circuits etc, but I'm sure you can build yourself something very similar.
To be honest I'm not really up on that sort of thing but hopefully professor_jonny will come along in a bit as I think he knows what's what

I realize bow that the Xbox will require an enormous amount of power to power it so I'll just have to make or get a small psu. Thanks for all the help guys can't wait to start.

a laptop battery wont cut it you will have to buy or make a custom pack.

Check out all-battery.com thats where I shop for things like that.

The xbox is quite power hungry you could run it from li-po /p04 batterys in a 4 cell battey config with a bms.

a bms will ballance the batters, charge it and cut it off on over current or over dischagre.

large capacity battery 4 cell 13000amp hour battery with a built in bms:

I think the xbox is psu is 90w so 13000 amp hour at 6 amp draw is aprox 90w so on this battery it would run the xbox for aprox 1hour at full load.

Alternativly you could build your own pack with cells here is a 20 amp hour cell 4 of these will give you over a hour at full load:

And a suitable bms for the above battery:

with this then you would need a 12v pc power supply and a few transistors to convert the 5v bits to 3.3v to connect it to the xbox
