xmugen?

What is xmugen? AFAIK it's a beat 'em up so I can't understand its popularity. If it's legal can I ask where to download it? I have a component cable so am I right that xmugen will not run on my xbox at all with that cable?

MUGEN is a freeware beat-em-up system (XMUGEN being the xbox port - well from what I've read it appears to be emulated from the linux version rather than a port), here's the wiki if you want to read up on it. It's something that I'm not very clued up on I'm afraid but your right it does seem very popular, probably due to it being freeware and I think it's quite customizable. Sorry I can't be of any help mate but thought I'd put a post up just to bump it in case anyone else can shed any light on the matter.

Xmugen is the best 2d fighter out there IMO. I've had my hand in it for a few years now and love it to death. Xmugen will work with component cables just fine, but it will only be able to output in 480p. There are plenty of builds floating around out there, I suggest looking into EVE or Battle Coliseum as i'm the one that uploaded those to the net. I was hosting a few builds on Demonoid.me but it's been down for a couple of months now. If you have any questions about Xmugen just let me know and if you have a hard time getting a hold of it I can do a private torrent to you.

Cheers,

Yep, bummer too. My ratio was killer, i think i had uploaded 1.2TB and only downloaded 500GB's worth. I loved Demonoid so much, so easy to use with no porn clogging shit up.

Thanks for the replies guys. I could've sworn there was a xmugen download (with Transformers characters in the screenshot) over at emuxtras but it seems to have vanished. I'll do some more searching and get back to you.

You can get almost any character in these. There is an Xmugen with 1300+ character floating around, also a 550+ character build and 700+ character build. They almost certainly all have the Transformer char's if that's what your after. If i remember right Megatron, Optimus, and Star Scream are in the list. I dont think those builds were posted at Emuxtras.

Also, there are a few guys that are causing a real shit storm with Xmugen right now, some trying to make people pay for Xmugen games and what not. A whole ton of drama to be honest, no matter what is said, Xmugen is free free free.

I found Battle Coliseum over at theisozone so based on your recommendation I'll try that. It's a small download too so I can see whether I like it. Couldn't find EVE though! If you could pm me with somewhere that I can get as much as possible that'd be great!

How is your hard drive setup? F will have to be 137gb's or lower for this to work. Xmugen will not boot from a custom partition that is bigger than that or has been formatted in 32k or 64k clusters. That's the one bad thing about Xmugen, you kinda have to setup your hard drive around it (for now). Since the light on your xbox lit up orange that means it tried to load the linux loader. Normally you'll see the loading text when this happens but on occasion I've seen nothing show up but a black screen and it still booted up fine after a few minutes. You do have to wait and be patient with this game, it's got to load 500+character and 300+ stages so it take a minute or three to launch. Wait to see what happens and then report back with your findings.

Ok, now I have data onscreen. Green writing, linux trying to boot.
1st error is fatx error
2nd error says device read only
3rd error reports unable to mount a swap file
4th error unable to mount drives
5th error dvd rom in use (no disk in drive)
then panic init shutdown and just sits there.

HD space on F: 89GB formated and setup with xecuter bios
HD is locked but also tried unloacked same error

it seems linux is having issues with my drive controller?

It sounds like xmugen is either not named right or it cant find the swap file to load up.
1. double check and make sure that xmugen (named just like that) is in F/Games. Make sure xmugen is lower case and that the G in games is capitol.
2. Look in the root of the xmugen folder, there should be a Swapfile folder, look in there and delete anything in there and try to boot it up again. The linux loader will create another swap file if something is wrong with that one. These are common errors and these are usually the two fixes that I've seen work.

Let me know how it goes, and dont give up like so many others, we will make it work.
