XBMC4Xbox

hi folks new to the site and i have had a look about and trying to find some info on doing an update.

i have a softmodded xbox how do i update the xbmc to the latest version?
im sure its going to be a lot easier than i think lol

Are you currently running XBMC as your dash? Do you know which version of XBMC you are running?

Sorry I have not replied I have not had time to get near it but what I can mind the it loaded up to a menu then you selected Xbmc from there.
I will get some time this weekend and look.

i guess i was mistaken and i dont have xbmc installed it seems it is something called XBMP 2.4
i guess its back to basics

Wow that is ancient... when you turn your xbox on does xbmp load up straight away or do you have to load it up?

yeah i do have to load it up
i have decided to try and do the softmod on here and redo the softmod on the xbox.

thats if i can find the files mentioned in the two tut's

There's no need to redo the softmod, you can just simply FTP into the xbox (before you load up xbmp) and copy over the latest xbmc build which is 3.5 beta 2

ok i guess i should have read things better.
i watched the videos of the softmod part 1 and 2
i used an sid loader instead of the unleashx loader as i could not find any to download.
i got a copy of the hexen disc
and tried it.
the sid does not work when i run splinter cell and load the linux profile.

the xbox still loaded up to the menu asking if i wanted to play games of disc or hdd as the old mod did, i was hoping to update the xbox a bit to match this sites info.
i ran the hexen and all seemed fine
i rebooted the xbox as told in the info without the hexen disc in but now the xbox loads up and screen goes black without anything
it still loads the hexen disc if i insert it and reboot the xbox just no menu comes up

i have noticed one thing about the xbox. when it first powers up and you get the xbox logo below when it says xbox there is another line reading xecuter2 going by google this seems to be a mod chip. one that i did not install so must have been done by previous owner.
does this mean i wont be able to do any changes? and is there a way i can revert the xbox back to the old settings?

ok this does not make sense to me. if i run the hexen disc and goto admin then file explorer and then dash folder then double click default then i can run xbmc etc from there

I think you need to boot from the Hexen disc, and change the default dashboard. My Xbox isn`t on atm, so I`m not sure were the option is?
