XBMC4Xbox

Disclaimer: I am not quite a noob, but I am very new to the Xbox modding world, which is why I'm asking for help — please bear with me and have patience!

I recently purchased a softmodded XBox, and I did successfully upgrade the version of XBMC running on the box without too much trouble, as well as setting up FTP and streaming capabilities. I'm running XBMC 3.3.3 as an application, as the Xbox boots into UnleashX 0.38 (part of the problem, I'll get to that)

However, I'm encountering some problems that are making me wonder if I would be better off doing a clean installation, namely some XBMC4xbox plugins refusing to work, no matter how much I wrangle with them.

I am not sure of which softmod method was used on my box, but I did FTP Hexen over to the hard drive, so that's ready to go, should that be needed.

What I want to do is update the UnleashX version to the most recent version, but I'm unsure of how to do that. I installed the latest version of it, but there seem to be two different versions of UnleashX on my system now, 0.38 and 0.39.

Can someone help me figure out what's going on here? Ultimately, I'd like to do a clean install of both UnleashX and XBMC, straightening out the situation with the two UnleashX's seems like it would be the starting place.

Okay, problem... after getting HeXen onto a CD, I followed the instructions you linked, and after restarting, it boots into the regular MS Dashboard, and no longer recognizes the CD as valid.

I did back up the contents of C and E before starting, but I can't seem to get into the Fatal Error Handler (Y+white button) to get FTP access... help?

HeXEn, like all Xbox boot discs, should be on DVD-R.....

Did you burn the HeXEn iso as an image to the DVD-R? Or did you maybe copy the hard drive version onto a CD.....?

Back in business, after getting a copy of Splinter Cell to boot back into the softmod process.

What I did, stupidly, was bail and restart the box instead of clicking the "1st back up eeprom" option. I guess that, since I didn't see that part listed in the step-by-step guide, I thought something had went wrong.

Once I got back into the softmod process, I was able to successfully run the HeXen (according to the instructions), and I now have a fresh, vanilla install of XBMC and a freshly softmodded box.

Even better, some of the problems I was having with XBMC plugins not running seem to have cleared up. Thanks again, I guess I was more of a noob at this than I'd thought.
