Can I mod with Component cable ONLY?

Hello,

I'm quite new to the scene. I've dusted off the old Xbox (been collecting dust for years) and wanted to turn it into a fun arcade/emulator to bring out to group trips.

I've ordered the memory card and game to begin the mod. I've acquired some small-ish emus to test the capabilities. Eventually I might go in and swap the HDD to be able to install CoinOPS.

However, I'm running into a big question and I can't seem to find the answer using the search. I ONLY own a component cable. I have no idea where my original composite cable is. Will these dashes (evo/unleash) mess with my video setting upon modding? making it impossible for me to see the screen? Do I need to go find a composite cable somewhere to be able to mod?

Since I'm in an NTSC environment, this may not be an issue at all, but I wanted to check before I start the process and my screen goes black!

thanks

You will be fine with the component cable if you have a HDTV :)

The last time I softmodded I recall options like the following:
Softmod
Softmod + HD
Softmod + Shadow C
Softmod + Shadow C + HD

The cables will still work if you choose a non-HD option, you'll just get a lower resolution signal coming through. I actually chose it by mistake when upgrading the softmod (it was an ancient one with no Shadow C, and this box was for my dad) and was using Component cables on an HDTV at the time.

You absolutely can softmod with only component cables. No worries.
