[SOLVED] REALLY Need some help... hooped. :(

Hey all, I just joined here as I am getting into the whole original xbox XBMC swing of things!
I recently purchased a hard-modded xbox with evoX, and an upgraded 250gb hdd, which had one of the really ancient versions of XBMC on it. Immediately I thought about updating XBMC to the latest version, and got onto my xbox with ftp, transferred over the latest XBMC4Xbox 3.3.3 stable build, and put it not into the Apps folder (as there was already this old version of XBMC there) but just into the root E: to test that it was working.
I loaded up the default.xbe within the new 3.3.3, and all was working fine, I was thrilled. Now I just wanted to make it the main bootable version of xbmc, so I proceeded to boot into an unleashedx dash which was also on there, deleted the "XMBC" and another folder named "XBMC_1" from the Apps directory in E:, and copied this new XBMC folder over into the Apps directory. Everything seemed fine, now I rebooted.
Well, I don't know what happened, but for whatever reason it can't boot up at all now. When I attempt to boot up my Xbox, it loads the Xbox splash screen, (with the "EvoX" logo in the corner, due to the modchip I'm guessing), but then just goes to a black screen, and I can tell the hdd is trying hard to find a file or something, but to no avail.
Now since I can't access ftp, I don't know what I should do... just plug the hard-drive into my computer and see if I can access/move things around, or what? Maybe burn a bootable DVD at least with UnleashX on it or something?
Hopefully someone here can help me, because I feel like an idiot now

Google heimdalls HeXEn xbox engineering disc, download, burn and pop it in your Xbox. That will give you a way to ftp to it again as well as provide a lot of useful tools.

Thank you for being the first to reply!
Yeah, it seems I'll have to go one of these routes eh... I was just looking at SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_2.7FINAL recovery disk also... however It wasted my last 2 DVD-R's since there was an error while trying to burn it (Tried Alcohol 120% first, then PowerISO... both had errors) then realized that it says to try "DVD Decrypter" to burn it and no I have no more DVD-R's. It's weird, this iso is even giving me errors burning to a CD-RW as well, I wonder if it's corrupt or something.
I'll give that a try now instead, thanks for the suggestion!

CD-RW almost certainly won't work - the Xbox is picky about which disc types it will read, and DVD-R is the only one that all Xbox DVD drives will read reliably.

I used imgburn with a TDK DVD-R burned on the slowest setting for burning the slayer's disc. I use 2.98, as do many folks. ISO files are like good barbecue, low and slow burning is the key to success.
On a side note, Hexen works good as well.
Make sure you are using the right brand of DVD-R for the type of DVD drive your xbox has. See below.
Identify your xbox DVD drive:

Disc types that work per drive brand:

Good luck, and happy hunting. If yours isn't pictured, take a pic and post it. I'll identify it for you then.

You can't rely on that DVD disc compatibility table. It's 5 years old, and you can be certain that few, if any, of the brands are still using the same manufacturer they were in 2008.
Just use a DVD-R. I've never found a brand that had a systematic issue (i.e. where all of the discs in a box had issues), and with every brand I've tried at least 9 out of every 10 worked, and that includes supermarket own brands.

Thanks all for your replies!
I realize now after uninstalling and reinstalling my DVD/CD writer from Device Manager, that it seems to not encounter errors when writing now (trying on a CD-RW since that's all I have atm)... too bad now I have no more DVDs now ... smh. haha
As predicted, neither of these iso's seem to load up on my xbox with this CD-RW, so I'll give both of the isos another shot once I can get my hand on a couple blank DVD's. Damn this project is turning into a time sink during my reviewing for finals period!
On a side-note: I just found a chipped 1st gen xbox360 for $50, Xbox360 Elite Slim for $50, and a PS3 for $50. I spent $30 on this xbox and have another I could sell for $20 lol. With that being said, what is everyone's feelings about XBMC on Xbox360 or PS3 (if possible)? I don't know much about Xbox stuff let alone XBMC (hey, I'm trying! lol). I know that it's available on a ton of devices now, but without spending something like $100 for a Raspberry Pi or more on an AppleTV, I'm guessing 360 if it's possible would be the next best choice? Any feedback would be nice!

Possibly Heimdall, but I just didn't want this fella to spend money on something that may not work. For example, if a TDK disc worked then, it will most likely work now as well. Just trying to save my man some money. If he wants to try a brand, by all means, go for it. Was a suggestion.

Well... back again... finally bought some DVD's, and burned EvoX AutoInstaller as well as HeXen to DVD's (Memorex ones... on 2x since that's as slow as it would let me go).
If I boot with no media, it's tough to explain but my chipped (Super Aladdin Live) Xbox starts up (with the evoX logo in the top left), and stays on the screen for a few seconds before changing to a completely black screen, where then I can hear my harddrive just trying to seek files or something, but it never changes.
When I booted it up with either of the discs in right now, it starts up the same way, sits at the Xbox with evoX logo in the top left screen again, but stays there a little longer, then again just goes to said black screen once again.
I have no idea what I can do now. When I try to boot it normally to the regular xbox dask (since it's modded and I have the option), it loads the regular splash screen, then changes to the "Call Microsoft for Servicing" screen. (This is with or without media in the drive... decided I might as well try both. Also, the same if I have a legit copy of a game in there).
All of this because I deleted XBMC from E:/Apps instead of F:/Apps ? (There were copies in both) ... fml

Be patient, hexen can take what seems like forever to load, but it's only a couple minutes. I burned 4 copies with different DVDs til I realized I just had to wait. So pop in disc go have a smoke or something and give it a chance

When you cold boot with HeXEn, is the LED turning red once the Evox logo disappears? If it is then you wait for 40-50 seconds and the menu will appear. If not then your Xbox can't read the DVD.
Just to confirm, you are using DVD-R, and you burned the iso as an image, not as a file? Also, which tool did you use to burn the image?

All is well!
The timing of things was ridiculous here causing me to overlook a simple solution.
It turns out that I guess somewhere in between me having it with old school XBMC on it, and when I decided to try and upgrade the XBMC version and messed with the files, my DVD drive decided to poop out on me a bit.
I'm guessing something is just causing the laser to not read CDs and DVDs anymore at the moment since the actual drive powers up fine and opens and closes.
Anyways, I have a second "virgin" xbox laying around here so I swapped Optical Drives and was able to boot up recovery disks right away... damn timing of things making me overlook the actual optical drive's condition lol.
Thanks a bunch for all the help and suggestions everyone! Sorry the solution was so obvious, yet not obvious at the same time haha.
