Help needed - How to update from very old XBMC

Hi all,

I'm currently have XBMC version 8.1 (compilation from year 2008) installed in my xbox 1. The XBMC folder is installed in E:/Apps/XBMC and it'll boot as dash as soon as i switch on the Xbox. Also, my xbox is hard modded.

Lately i have just downloaded XBMC Eden 11. I'm trying to update this by replacing my current XBMC folder in E:/Apps/XBMC and replace the bootable file at C:/evoxdash.xbe (this is done by moving the default.xbe came with Eden11 and replace it in C:/)

Appreciate if some expert here can share or provide guidance for following:

a. How to update from XBMC 8.1 to Eden 11?
b. After update, how to make new XBMC Eden 11 as my default dash ... auto launch during power ON of Xbox

many thanks in advance

As Buzz says there is no Eden release for Xbox, I think you may have got a little confused there. Mainbranch XBMC decided to drop the Xbox platform a few years ago so the last release by them for Xbox was Camelot. Since those days Buzz and Arnova had been working hard on updating the Xbox builds themselves... Arnova has recently left and now poor Buzz is all on his own doing it! You'll find the latest Xbox release on this forum (Stable 3.2), just ftp over the new build but make sure you don't overwrite the old build - it needs to be a complete fresh install when coming from a build as old as what you're on.

is the xbe file in C:/ a small xbe to redirect/load the main xbmc default.xbe or is it another copy of default.xbe from xbmc ?

Hi buzz

Thanks for your reply
Yes, the .xbe is in c:/. My Xbox will boot from this file "evoxdash.xbe"... This file was a copy from previous Xbmc build I installed in 2008.

I have tried FTP the whole new Xbmc 3.2 build to replace current Xbmc folder and then move the default.xbe that came with 3.2 version to c:/ and rename it to evoxdash.xbe

I'm such a rookie n hope u can let me know the correct way to make this 3.2 version as my default dash whenever I boot up Xbox

Thanks in advance bro

I would first get a xbe to redirect to xbmc, so that you dont have to keep moving xbmc default.xbe - I dont have a file handy but I guess someone can point you to it - but then you can replace evoxdash.xbe with the small redirector which will then load a file specified in it's config - say E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe

Thanks but how to get the redirector? How setup or configure such redirector.
I'm currently revert back to my year 2008 Xbmc till this issue is solved
