I upgrade XBMC once per year... and now is that time

A couple of quick questions if thats cool:

1. What is now the recommended way to update XBMC?

I tried the wiki but the page has been deleted:

Is it still "ftp dir and copy UserData.xml"? Or is there an add-on
that everyone uses these days?

2. My 3 XBMC systems are on 3.1 (April 2012) - I was going to wait for
3.3 to be stable - roughly any idea how far off?

There are a few tutorials on how to transfer (FTP method etc), or you can try the XBMC SVN Installer plugin in my signature (read it's wiki page first).

I tried installing the "XBMC SVN Installer" plugin by following your first post here however I get a message saying:
So at this point do you think it's best for me to use FTP to upgrade to 3.3 and then try the plugin for the next upgrade cycle?

I just removed the minimum revision requirement, you can try again if you want.
