This tutorial will feature the mods that can be done just by moving around wires.

Red power ring: (not needed due to xbmc)
switch 5/6 (move wire 5 to hole 6 and wire 6 to hole 5)
and 7/8 (move wire 7 to hole 8 and wire 8 to hole 7)



Half green half red power ring:
switch 5/6 (move wire 5 to hole 6 and wire 6 to hole 5)
or 7/8 (move wire 7 to hole 8 and wire 8 to hole 7)




Big power button small eject button:
The Eject button will turn on and off your Xbox
and the power button will eject the DVD tray
switch 2/4 (move wire 2 to hole 4 and wire 4 to hole 2)




Heres the placements of the wires:

Thinking about wiring Leds to the PCB what does (#9 NC) stand for?

Usually it means not connected, although I may be wrong as it seems a bit odd they'd have a wire on pin 9 if its not connected to anything.

NC in this case means "not connected". It can also mean "normally closed" if it is referring to a relay contact. I would say it was intended to be used as the wire on pin 9 is on every Xbox version but it is not connected or at least no trace was drawn on the front panel board to use it. I've never checked if the pin on the mother board actually goes somewhere. Would be handy if it went to the 3.3vDc or 5vDc standby because the I could use it on something I am working on now but I suspect it goes nowhere on the board. Still, a wire link across to the power connector's standby voltage pin to pin 9 on the underside of the motherboard would sort that out. . Anyway, thanks for bring this subject up, you just saved me from running a wire across inside the machine. I always prefer to keep the wiring looking stock.

Just a glimpse of something I'm working on regarding the front panel. Not quite finished yet but it should be good to go into any Xbox when finished with minimal modding. It is this minimal modding bit that is taking so long. If I just hardwired it, it would have been finished a week ago but the machine it is intended for isn't finished yet anyway.
The top front panel is a standard MS part. The lower one is the modded one as if you didn't know.

Well it turns out it does go no where. I can run a link across to the power connector to get the standby voltage required to power the board. A small link wire under the board to power the small board all the time and it should be good to go. The board runs on 3-5vDC but for this 1st machine I'll go a 1.6 machine so I have a 5vDC supply for the board.

seriously really confused as to what that is. Please explain...

Version 2 of the modded front panel board. I morphed the new board into the old board.



It worked out pretty well. The power and output connectors on the board lined up with the original LED 1 connector and the opto-coupler took the place of the old ON / OFF button with two new holes drilled in the board. I just needed to add one external wire.



It fit in the front panel after is swapped the pot location from the front of the board to the rear.



LEDs are flush with the front Xbox panel which they needed to be.



And I just needed to trim a little bit out of the RF shield.



I still need to put the black plastic insulation over the back side of the board and connect the Xboxes LED indicator wires to there new location, ( they are the loose yellow wires and the black ground wire).

Cashonly takes the cigar. . That is exactly what it is for. Just like the last of the 360 slims. I am doing it so I can fill in the front panel recess so the panel appears flatter and use it as a light effect.

Well the board mods work well. It picks up about 50mm away from the sensor perfectly. When I ordered the sensor boards I also ordered some stickers of my son's football club that were to take up the now blank rectangular panel seeing as the switches were taken off the switch panel. I'm really thinking they are gone and need to order more to finish this mod off. Would be nice to finish this machine actually, it has been in pieces for over about 3 months now although now it has the HDMI mod, the on/ off controller switch mod and a one off paint job with a cool lighting effect that includes the now blank front switch panel. This is like the sticker to fix the front panel.....

Any possibility of a tutorial for that board you made?
Possibly a link to the board you inserted into it?
