sorry if this question has been asked before and i'm pretty it has lost of time.
For the past few years I have always got my mod games from someone else who has now moved away so now I thought of trying myself but after reading a few articles the are only a few DVD drive's that work. Please see below the name of my DVD drive
D:\ [PIONEER DVD-RW DVRTD11RS1.01]
If this is the wrong type, can anyone suggest where I can possible buy (in UK) another drive to work with my laptop so I can start and try to copy xbox games. I'm a complete novice at this but like anything you have to start somewhere.
Thank you for any help with matter.

I may misunderstand (and im not the most knowledgeable so this may well be the case lol) but what are you trying to do? rip you xbox games? If so why not just copy them to your xbox hard drive using dvd2xbox and then ftp them to your pc.
Iv not used dvd2xbox your quite a few years but if I remeber correctly you have 2 options, 1 to rip the game what i call normally as in folders and files or 2 to rip it as a single iso file. Like I said though iv not used it for quite a few years so there maybe something better or I may have misunderstood you lol
All the best

My understanding is that you cannot rip an xbox game with anything other than the xbox due to the way an xbox disk is recorded. My understanding is that a standard PC DVD/RW drive burns disks from the inside section of the disk outward and reads them that way; however a XBOX DVD is recorded from the outside of the disk to the inside section.
I do believe there is a way to make a DVD copy of the game once it has been ripped to the xbox using the xbox and the the iso ftpped to a PC, but I do not know the method. Maybe someone else can help if that is what you are trying to achieve.

Hi Paul thanks for your reply. I didn't explain myself. I have downloaded the game. So I have the iso file. Then I used the burnermax program to try and extend my cd/dvd drive but I get the message BurnerMAX not enabled, YET !. What i'm trying to find out is if my cd/dvd drive is even compatible. Can you use any cd/dvd drive to burn an ISO, or is there something else i'm missing or something that I'm not doing. .
hope this makes things a little clearer.

any burner will work if you are using a modded xbox to read it , why not just use iso2god on pc then ftp folder to xbox.

You say burnermax you sure your not getting confused about xgd3 xbox 360 games? If you already have the iso on your pc and your xbox hard drive is big enough use something like c-xboxtools to extract the game iso to your xbox. It will extract and copy the iso to your xbox hard drive via ftp automatically well once you configured the ftp section. Its really very easy

I have tried on numerous occasions for burn the iso with imgburn to a disc, but most times it fails. However the few iso I have are 8.14GB, so I read that you use burnermax to open your drive or something like that so you can then burn it onto a 8.5GB disc.
However after reading the different comments on here, the one about coping the iso directly onto your xbox, seems a decent way. Is there any step by step instructions which can help me out.
sorry for trouble guys.

As trogggy says it sounds as though you're trying to burn an Xbox360 game and not an original xbox game. I don't know of any old xbox games that weigh in at over 8gb. Please clarify which xbox you are using, this is an xbox1 forum (original - not the new one) but there may well be users on here that can help if it is indeed a 360.

No I have a MOD xbox 360 console..and recently downloaded an ISO 360 game. it was 8.14GB but when I tried to burn it my 8.5GB I got the message says something like not enough space my my disc, even it is 8.5GB, after reading on different website you use burnermax to do something to your drive so it allows the full burn onto the disc., but the burnermax wont get enabled, but even so whatever the reason I cant burn the 360 game onto my disc......

you need a liton ihas drive drive with special firmware to write xgdf3 disks.
microsoft releaced a update to their game disks that write closer to the disk hub to get extra space and make it harder to copy them.
so you need a special burner to make them

That now makes sense, are you using dual layer discs ? , you wont fit an 8.14gig game onto a 4.7gig DVD - and you are on the wrong forum if you only have a 360.

Moved to offtopic (this is not a 360 forum), but also locked sorry. Discussion of downloading/burning commercial software is not welcome here.
